Does anyone else suffer from UBE syndrome?

UBE = unrealistic bag expectations.

I got a new bag from my best friend for my birthday, she knows me well so I really like it. I haven't used it yet, but today have moved all my stuff in to it, in a very organised way.

When I use this bag everything will be great, I will never lose anything it it - its so orderly. My life will be perfect when I start using this bag. It will NOT in 4 weeks become like all the others - which have organix rice cake crumbs, recipets and holes in them. Everything I do with this bag will be worderful and graceful...

I also suffer from USE - same but with shoes.

I think it stems back to being at school and the new term and you have nice new shoes/bag and you know you are going to be worderfully smart, funny and popular this term, all because of the bag.

i dont,but it's quite funny nonetheless.

(mine would be USE= unrealistic size expectations.i buy clothes a tiny bit too tight on the ol bum cheeks...and figure tht when i fit the said garment, life will be perfect )

My USE = Unrealistic Storage Expectations. If I have the right cupboards/wardrobes/drawers/organisers/filing cabinet/etc, then the true me will somehow, amazingly, be revealed: the tidy me, the organised me, the me who doesn't cover every available surface with things that "I'll just put them here for a moment, just until I find the right place to keep them".

[in your dreams!] icon.

I can't get excited about bags or shoes at all tbh but I do still have a tendency every September to think that a new pencil case and an academic year diary will suddenly turn me into an amazingly organised and efficient person.

janeite · 03/03/2009 20:13

So I suppose mine is USE: Unrealistic Stationery Expectations.

Lulumama · 03/03/2009 20:13

yes, the bag will instantly imbue any outfit, even if it is jeans and a tunic with that je ne sais quoi, that unutterable chicness, that one yearns for

every time i change my bag, i will instantly also transform into , not just an understatedly chic woman, but a super efficient dynamo

i think i am a fellow sufferer

MrsMattie · 03/03/2009 20:16

Yes.

I also suffer from MBS = multiple bags syndrome.

I have a couple of handbags on the go at any one time and transfer stuff from one to the other when one becomes that bit too Organix rice cake-crumb/stray dried up raisin/bribery chocolate bar wrapper- laden.

MrsMattie · 03/03/2009 20:18

Oh yes!@janeite - that too.

I have UNS = Unrealistic Notebook Syndrome.

This lovely new notebook will be a nice, neat little catalogue of lists and organisation, and not a dog-earred, scrappy collection of scribbles with coffee stains on the cover

janeite · 03/03/2009 20:39

Oh yes! And connected to this is: PPPS
Pretentious Poetry Preparation Syndrome: the new notebook will be full of wonderful poetry and will not be marred by scribblings, crossings out, doodles of ghosties, pathetic and rude limericks about one's colleagues/partner/children/friends, repeated lines about not being able to find the right bloody rhyme yet etc etc etc.

giraffescantdancethetango · 04/03/2009 07:27

lulu you understand me

ah yes I love stationery too..and when you get a new pen you are only ever going to write NEATLY with it.

CompareTheMeerkat · 04/03/2009 07:30

I have UDE (unrealistic diary expectations). Every year I think that this year I will use my diary properly and won't either forget to write things down, or put them on scrappy pieces of paper.

Pretty candles - can I just say your theory is not infact unrealsitic - I believe it to be true!

Dh and I had our bedroom re-done a few months ago with fitted wardrobes - I even have a slim pull out thing for shoes and make up.

It has transformed our bedroom into a lovely heaven for me - I LOVE IT!!!!!

I have special hangers for scarfs, belts - all my underwear is orgnised into box thingines that section the drawer off - my underwear drwaer is colour coded FFS!!! I never thought that would happen to me - I'm Mrs Messy!

DottyDot · 04/03/2009 15:17

Oh yes I suffer a lot from this - I'm bag obsessed and they all start out being utterly gorgeous and beautiful. Sigh...

I also have UDE (unrealistic diet expectations) where I'm 'good' for about 4 days and expect at least 2 stone to have dropped off immediately because it's so blardy hard...

PrettyCandles · 09/03/2009 14:53

So there's hope for me yet, Sweetheart?

bluebump · 09/03/2009 15:29

I found the perfect bag, and when it died on me I was gutted so when I had a peek for a new one on ebay there was MY bag, brand new with tags one etc so i've got another now. I am alternating its use with another bag to prolong it's life!

Alas like DottyDot I too suffer from UDE, but it's okay as my bag is so fab

MrsMattie · 09/03/2009 15:32

That goes hand in hand with Unrealistic Gym Membership, doesn't it?

You go every day for the first fortnight and then one day you look up from your comfy spot on the sofa munching biccies and , you haven't been in 3 months
