DD will make her 1st Communion in May and I am tearing my hair out, trying to find a white, COTTON, dress ( I know I'm shouting but it proving a near impossible task)

I have found one in Monsoon which is nice, but has a difficult to remove "thing" on it. Vertbaudet have some but they are too plain.

Sooooo.....

can anyone help me find a pretty, not TOO plain, white (not ivory) cotton dress suitable for a very special occasion.

Please.

Think this is cotton

PlumBumMum · 02/03/2009 11:11

or this

dizzymac · 02/03/2009 14:11

Thanks for all the ideas. I have only just got to the computer today. DD2 been in A&E after cracking her head at nursery!! ( she's fine).
PBM: no she is not allergic. It's just my personal preference. She does suit cotton styles better. That last one is perfect for what I am looking for I'll have to check how much it would be to import it though. Thanks

All FHC dresses seem expensive. I've decided it's not cheap being Catholic

LynetteScavo · 02/03/2009 14:13

Ooooh - Missed your post about her cracking her head. [

Hope you are all OK now.

dizzymac · 02/03/2009 14:16

Yes Lynette, were all fine now. Thank you. You're not wrong about catholicism being explensive. A couple on here have been ok really. I'd like to pay under £75 and it does seem possible (that's just the dress by the way) she has chosen white full sandals from start rite for her shoes but she'll get plenty of wear out of those.

Are you having a party too?

I've just remebered I haven't organised anything for DS's FHC in May! I think it'll have to be soggy sandwhiches in the garden!

dizzymac · 02/03/2009 14:32

Well!!
Because of the fact that our church is used by 2 schools, DD1 will make her FHC at 6 o'clock mass on the Saturday night. Soooo as we have lots of relatives to come we are having a 4 o'clock tea and sandwiches and then afterwards back to the house for wine etc.. I have spent a lot of time thinking about this ( can you tell)?
It only seems 2 minutes since she was born. This seems to be a big milestone, the 1st really. I'm so proud of the way she has turned out and I'm really looking forward to it. I know it seems strange but it really is very important to me and all of us as a family.

(Sorry, I got a bit carried away there.)

Hi dizzymac, did you mean the last one I posted think thats beautiful, I only asked about allergy as it seemed so hard to actually find cotton dresses

My dd is making hers in May at 10 o'clock in morn we are going to have a party after, your right its seems like a big milestone to us too

My dd is the first grandchild, and Mil has no daughters so she got the dress, v expensive and I would never have paid that amount I had found a site with lovely dresses for under £100, but MIL organised a lovely day out for us to go get her dress

Rolf · 02/03/2009 16:39

How about this one?

This is the site I liked if you cant find a cotton here

Cholom · 03/03/2009 20:10

Try Marks and Spencer Autograph collection for communion outfits- I saw a flyer/booklet hanging aroung in school a few weeks ago- try looking on the internet- probably selected stores only.

unfitmother · 03/03/2009 20:27
