Minerals make up - anyone use this?

I've just bought some (albeit one of the cheaper brands) and have found it very drying. Can you only really use this successfully if you have oily skin? I like the coverage on the parts of my face that aren't so dry, so was wondering if it's worth investing in a better quality brand or if I'm just barking up the wrong tree. Any ideas most appreciated.

I haven't got on with the loreal one myself...it actually make my skin itch as well as giving me the look of a dessicated old crone, so I shall be steering clear of it in future!

I have the lilo one and it's fab, especially given I have rapidly-advancing-into-middle-age skin. You can buy tester pots so it's not a huge investment. here

GetOrfMoiLand · 26/02/2009 09:50

I have used the Loreal one and agree that it is awful. Goes on very patchy and is a strange colour and texture.

Mind you I have a friend who swears by the Prescriptives one, and I have heard that the Lilo one is good, I think it must be the cheapo minerals stuff which is crap.

cocolepew · 26/02/2009 09:51

I used the powder and had to use a lot of moisturiser, but I've changed to the Maybelline liquid one and it's very good.

Thanks slug! Now I have bookmarked that site for later!!!!!

JumpingDizzy · 26/02/2009 09:55

Excellent slug, I was toying with getting some mineral foundation as heard it's good. I just ordered 3 mini pots from lilo so I can get the nearest shade to suit me. Cheers!

The Lily Lolo stuff is great and the tester size samples last for ages.

TheCrackFox · 26/02/2009 09:58

Maybelline one is very good.

Hi all, new to MN (well, been lurking) I use Bare Escentuals (not sure of spelling)and find them really good. Bit on the pricey side but lasted for ages, and easy and quick to apply.

inthemistsoftime · 26/02/2009 19:02

I bought maybelline on sat and i love it, it goes on easy and looks good even on very fair skin like mine.

MissGreatBritain · 26/02/2009 19:04

thanks for all your replies. Will order some samples. Does anyone know if it's any good on dry skin though?

I started off using Bare Escentuals, which is fab, but now swear by the Avon one which is as good as BE but fabber because of the price!

JumpingDizzy · 27/02/2009 09:25

I'll keep avon in mind if I don't like the lilo.
Hope you find a good one MGB.

I use Avon and it's ok. I don't find it too drying, although I don't use it every day. My friends have said it looks nice, but it doesn't last long.
