Long Tankinis to cover unsightly bits! (that's my tummy! not my actual 'bits'!)

Does anyone know where you can get nice tankinis that are a bit longer than the norm? I have tried on tons of lovely ones (next, boots, M and S) but they are all too short and flash that excact bit of tummy that I'm trying to cover (post baby stretch marks.) I've also thought about maternity ones in a few sizes too small but then the bottoms never fit right as they actually are too small. Any ideas, or just any flattering swimwear in general would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Lands End or one of those similar mail order companies do them, prob not too funky but if you are looking for coverage...

Tankini

watching with interest,

OOh thanks I really like the style of the black one marmaduke, but wanted something a bit more colourful (but not keen on the other designs either.) May end up going for this though if I don't find anything else. Is this an American Company? (Never heard of it, and just wondered about sending aomething back if it wasn't right?)

anyone got a nice one to cover a granny tummy but still sexy?

Jewelsandgems · 24/02/2009 21:06

I have this and it is very sexy and very flattering around the tummy, and great for those of us with bigger boobs:

I have a Boden one that's lasted me a couple of summers - with boy shorts too.

cmotdibbler · 24/02/2009 21:20

I have a couple of Lands End tankinis, and they cover my tummy right up, and have lasted amazingly well. Are also very well cut.

They are american, but have UK base, so returns are no quibble and painless

LaLaBingBong · 25/02/2009 07:57

Squeaver are Boden ones a bit longer then? I like their patterns.

Getting more keen on that Landsend one though.

Get a swimsuit. There is no such thing as a flattering tankini.

LaLaBingBong · 25/02/2009 08:46

Do you think? Fed up of swimsuits but not ready for a bikini yet (or ever!)

I disagree SoupDragon.

I think tankinis that fit properly can be much more flattering as they distract from your tummy (both of mine have bottoms that come up to my waist and tops that are long, so at least 3" of overlap, and they don't ride up at all. I also like having boy short legs for climbing in and out lots with a toddler

SoupDragon · 25/02/2009 09:28

Bottoms that come up to your waist?? They must be granny pants

Yup, but as I see it, granny pants are far better than muffin tops, or a detailed view of someones belly through their swimming costume. Or even worse, the wearers of bikinis at family swim time. Why spend your entire swimming time with the children constantly readjusting your bikini ?

BonsoirAnna · 25/02/2009 10:17

Just buy a really lovely one piece swimsuit. So much more flattering than a tankini.

If your belly isn't worth showing off in a bikini, why would you want to show it off by rolling up a tankini? And at rolling swimwear...

llandb · 18/02/2010 17:17

I got one of these (in coffee/dahlia) as I was desperate to find something that came with boyshorts (which means wearing two-piece), and am v. pleased with it, though haven't taken it swimming yet. They claim their tops are 1.5 cm longer than 'normal'. I can't vouch for the way they would look on a 'normal' person, as I have rather odd proportions, but the top touches the bottoms for me.

I would have preferred a more 'sporty' top, more designed for swimming, but it's not too bad on the supportiveness and staying-on front.

As for boyshorts, pah to all you boyshort-dissers!
I reckon they are great if you have a traditionally-shaped derriere and want something that neither rides up nor falls off. I go to the water to swim or play, not to ponce about and look glam - and I'd look a darned sight less glam if constantly fretting and adjusting

Oh and what CMOT said (waves to CMOT)

And vow to try Lands End next time

And also voucher code for free P&P at Lands' End till midnight Sunday
