Not quite the right place for this, but what is the john lewis kids clothes like for quality?

was given some vouchers today for j lewis as an extra reward at work, and thought I'd treat dd. She has enough toys and books (and clothes for that matter, but she'll get more use from clothes!)
what is the quality like?

Not bad. Seems to withstand a lot of wear & washing. It's a bit expensive but there are usually good sales reductions.

slackrunner · 23/02/2009 22:36

They're good - pretty hardwearing.

Sarimillie · 23/02/2009 22:36

I agree with liath - have had especially good fleeces from there.

Washersaurus · 23/02/2009 22:36

I think they are fab and mostly reasonably priced suprisingly! We have only ever purchased a few clothing items from JL, but always go back for their kids terry dressing gowns (hate fleece ones as not absorbant). Most of the things we have bought have been handed down to DS2 and still look good.

InTheScrum · 23/02/2009 22:37

Babygros are excellent quality, wear and wash very well and the same price as Boots clothes.

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 23/02/2009 22:38

am looking at some dresses such as this and a few others, they do seem v well priced!

and I like this one

blowninonabreeze · 23/02/2009 22:41

DD has the stripy version of that. Its quite thin (jersey material) as its from their summer range but looks lovely. Has been washed half a dozen times so far and still looks great.

I think their stuff is fabulous quality TBH, have always managed to hand stuff down

blowninonabreeze · 23/02/2009 22:42

I was talking about your first link in that last post by the way!

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 23/02/2009 22:44

will pop into j/lewis on Wed to buy her a little treat then.

I agree fab quality and worth the money. Sizes come up small so might be worth looking at the next size up.

First days of sale always worthwhile as many reductions are 50% off!

Washersaurus · 23/02/2009 22:54

Oh yes, the sizes do tend to be a bit smaller than some other shops.

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 23/02/2009 22:54

I can usually get away with dresses for DD, we struggle with jeans, shorts and skirts - she has no arse or tummy, so unless they have adjustable waist bands, we stay well clear, otherwise they're too short but right on the waist, or loose and the right length!

Another fan here. Nowhere near as expensive as you might think and everything I've had for DS has washed and washed and still looks good.

mrsruffallo · 24/02/2009 00:15

Good quality on the whole I think

EldonAve · 24/02/2009 07:45

Some recent stuff I bought faded very badly when washed

spicemonster · 24/02/2009 07:48

I think their stuff is good quality and comes up quite big but my DS isn't very tall

amidaiwish · 24/02/2009 08:05

i buy quite a lot there and find them really good quality (as good as Gap/Boden) but sizing can be a bit odd.
for dresses i always have to go up a size as they seem to come up small/short
but jersey bottoms seem to come up really big, huge around the waist.
tops v good and spot on sizing.

monkeysmama · 24/02/2009 10:32

I am a big fan. I get loads of dd's stuff there & people always comment on it. Surprisingly I've never seen another baby in the same clothes either.

Agree with sizing comments. Dd had some white dungarees with coloured splashes on them in a velvety cord material which went a tad bare but I did wash them every few days & she wore then loads.

cmotdibbler · 24/02/2009 10:33

I love the fact that their boys clothes are lovely bright colours, and stay the same colour. DS is very fond of his turquoise T shirts

BikeRunSki · 24/02/2009 10:58

We were handed down a few JL bits when DS was born and it all still looked good as new. It has washed and worn well on DS too. I have been sufficiently impressed with the quality to buy him new stuff from them too. I love their colours and designs and that they tend to avoid "pale blue with cars on".
