Horibble post pregancy (3 yrs ago) tum that is just gross. Can anyone tell me if I can get rid of the folds of crepe that exist there now? I'm not overweight (bmi of 23) so how can I do something about it. Will try diet, exercise, potions, lotions and soft lighting.

Surgery.

GraceGrapello · 21/02/2009 17:33

It was when i realised my stomach looked like melting snow on a car windscreen i realsied I was middle aged

BonsoirAnna · 21/02/2009 17:34

You could combine it with another baby and a Caesarean .

Pennies · 21/02/2009 17:42

No more babies allowed. Surgery seems a) expensive b) painful c) extreme. Surely some slebs have done it without a knife or am I being naive?

100's and 100's of dit ups! Get yourself to a gym and have a few sessions with a good personla trainer. Get them to show you excercises that work your core muscles - not just sit ups. I have been doing the plank and woodchop and they have made a huge difference to my stomach!

sweetheart · 21/02/2009 17:44

plus drink water - not tea, coffee, fizzy drinks etc as they all contribute to fat build up

GraceGrapello · 21/02/2009 17:46

what cack.

they don't contribute to weight but they add to celulite build up

Need to learn to accept it, Pennies.

My stomach's the same, but short of some miraculous surgery, there's nothing you can do.

Even at my fittest/slimmest/most toned, the horrid tum remained.

I accept it nowadays, along with the abundance of stretchmarks I'm plastered in...

BitOfFun · 21/02/2009 18:00

Really sweetheart? I thought it was simply overstretched skin, and that surgery is the only option?

Wouldn't it be nice if you could just take a pill and have loads of body confidence? You sound fit and healthy, and your body has done a marvellous thing- you aren't seventeen anymore, and you shouldn't want to be...

I do know that saying that will make absolutely no difference though

jemart · 21/02/2009 18:02

The celebrities you mention have surgery or creative digtal adjustments to all pictures of them. Or body doubles.

Fact is there is no magic way round it, your body will deteriorate as you live and age, thats just life. Accept and move on.

GraceGrapello · 21/02/2009 18:10

cellulite is just fat. Its a made up thing.

foxinsocks · 21/02/2009 18:11

you can do nothing

electra · 21/02/2009 18:16

It's not true there isn't anything you can do - exercise 'does' make a big difference, combined with lots and lots of moisturising with something like Elizabeth Arden 8 hour body lotion. I used Strivectin SD which made a huge difference. This has worked for me. I still have stretchmarks and actually did before I had the children from general losing and gaining weight - I think it has a lot to do with your skin type. But my tummy didn't look crepe papery any more. Now I'm pregnant again, however!

foxinsocks · 21/02/2009 18:19

she's already an ok weight though so it's not excess weight...

I do think it's genes too. I remember my mum's crepe stomach and stretch marks and now I can see why I have one!

foxinsocks · 21/02/2009 18:20

yeah and I reckon slebs have done it with surgery

or they have good genes

BonsoirAnna · 21/02/2009 21:22

Slebs have surgery, of course they do - being a sleb doesn't relieve them of human weaknesses but they do have money to spend in order to conceal them

cornsilk · 21/02/2009 21:24

I agree with electra. You might not be able to get back to how it was pre-children but exercise is bound to improve it. Also those strap on things that tighten the muscles do work.

LOL wats - that's the one!

PillicockSatOnPillicockHill · 21/02/2009 21:34

Ahh the old slendertone I am on full pelt with mine atm

not sure about the skin but does work on the muscle!

MamaHobgoblin · 21/02/2009 21:37

lol at strap on!

Can sit-ups really reverse post-partum tum? If I thought that, I'd bloody well do some, but I can't believe that skin stretched past endurance point is going to change, whatever I do.

What I want to know is, if you get pregnant again, do you make it worse, or does the bump just fit nicely into the kangaroo pouch full of crepe that the last one left? No, I really want to know!

cornsilk · 21/02/2009 21:42

I've not tried 8 hour cream on my tum but will do in future - thanks electra! Exercise will improve your basic body shape and tone the muscles, so will improve the basic appearance of your tummy. I've lost hope of regaining my pre-kids tum though!
