Hairy chins!

I've recently taken my ds to get his hair cut and while we were there we saw an old lady - who was waiting to get her hair done, go over to the barber's side of the salon and ask to have a shave . She was given a proper shave of her chin and upper lip with the shaving foam and a barber style razor blade.

Is this really something you have to do later as you get older? Just wondering as I haven't got this problem yet but everyone remembers atleast one hairy chinned old aunty wanting to give you a kiss or in my case it was my hairy chinned primary school misstress!

I worked in a beautician's for a while during my gap year and old ladies used to come in for chin and moustache waxes.

I've had a moustache all my life ! Hope the chin will be spared. Ah the joys of being Italian.....

I started getting really noticeable facial hair at about 25 - in my case it is a symptom of excess male hormone caused by/causing (who knows where it fits into the cycle) polycystic ovarian syndrome. In general, because production of female hormones drops after the menopause, women are more likely to get hairier when older (I don't actually know whether production of male hormones increases - I assume it's just a change in the relative levels.

I've now reached the point where plucking is barely holding back the tide, and even if I have plucked a lot, I still have some five-o'clock shadow, plus the sideburns (which I pluck much less) get longer and longer... I think I'm going to have to embrace electrolysis or similar, but I hate the pain, cost and the fact that you have to grow the hair a bit before you can have it yanked out/sizzled. Of course laser treatment allows you to remove hair while keeping it short, but it is SO expensive, it's definitely not an option at the moment. Maybe in 2 years [gets piggy bank]
