Help! I'm drawn like a moth to a flame... by these VAN DAL shoes?????

Do I need help? Or do I just need £65 to race out and buy these adorable shoes?

They look even nicer in the shop window, and are v similar to a pair I wore for years (from trendy shop) and got millions of compliments on.

They are perfect for spring: covered toe, discreet wedge heel, adorable colour and bow detail.

Has anybody else ever bought Van Dal shoes? Do they even sell them to the under 60's? Will I be asked for some form if ID to prove that I eat scones and watch Heartbeat?

Help meeeeeee......

ps, just read the thread back and I can't believe how many people hate them.

Well, I'd wear them and I'm the kate moss of my village Except, older, not as thin, not as goodlooking, but you get my drift.. I'm a trailblazer in my radius.

It's the way you wear things isn't it?! You need to break a few fashion rules now and then , and this is YOUR rule to break.

  1. thou shalt not wear Van Dal shoes. says who? do it if you want to.

Some of the other shoes are completely horrible though. Those ones slipped in to the range by mistake

Fimbo · 18/02/2009 16:22

The pink is dire.

The silver could be okish, depending on the clothes worn, nah scrap that they are VILE.

SalmonintheLiffey · 18/02/2009 16:23

Not to wear together but I like this all the same.

Themasterandmargaritas · 18/02/2009 16:26

Hear hear oh fishy one. I too am a trendsetter.

Themasterandmargaritas · 18/02/2009 16:31

It's classy fishy, not really Kate Moss though is it? I quite like it all the same. Again perhaps not in fuschia.

Fimbo · 18/02/2009 16:31

I like these. Hideous though in the other options

MorrisZapp · 18/02/2009 16:33

Salmonintheliffey - thank you!!

Sorry ladies, didn't mean to put you all off your gypsy creams.

I saw them in the shop window and I SWEAR they are cute. I'm almost tempted to buy them just to prove I can wear them with panache Hmm, ok, I'll step back and have a good think before chucking £65 at the issue.

And I wonder how much Office or Schuh would charge for these babies, or how many bright young things would dash to grab them:

Errr not me. Sorry I have to draw the line somewhere.

Lilymaid · 18/02/2009 16:43

I'm nearer to the age group for VanDal than most of you and I look at their clothes and think "cruise wear" "golf club ladies".

Lilymaid · 18/02/2009 16:46

I meant shoes not clothes, but they would look nice with some Viyella or Country Casuals leisure wear!

SalmonintheLiffey · 18/02/2009 16:46

Oh my God, who's the seller!? Cheryl from Bucksfizz!?

MorrisZapp · 18/02/2009 16:48

They remind me of 'Duty Free', the dodgy 80's sitcom set in Alicante or somewhere!

I'm not planning to buy the rainbow ones!!!

They are for comparative purposes only.

I like them in silver but couldn't stretch to paying £65 for them.

milou2 · 18/02/2009 17:00

I had some Van Dal shoes once, pricey but very, very well fitting.

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 18/02/2009 17:01

rofl at Cheryl from Bucks Fizz.

MorrisZapp · 18/02/2009 17:08

Clarks and Hush Puppies have both been rehabilitated as cool, haven't they?

I've got my trusty HP tan leather pumps on as we speak. Comfy, cool, well made, what more do you want.

If Crocs and Uggs can have a fashion moment (both ugly imo) then a wee pink pump can't offend, can it?

OP posts:
smellyeli · 18/02/2009 17:11

Morris - you are right about Clarks/HP.

Perhaps the thing to do, for the good of us all, is to buy them, style them up and then post a picture for us all to judge admire.

We could have a whip round?

MorrisZapp · 18/02/2009 17:19

Yay smellyeli! I will do just that.

No need for whip round. DP owes me a present

They're definitely a spring purchase though so will wait and see if I still want them in a month. Can't see them working with my black ankle socks and berghaus life preserver.

Have I just committed further fashion sin...

cherylfrombucksfizz · 18/02/2009 17:39

oy!

i'm actually selling some peach slingbacks...

pagwatch · 18/02/2009 17:42

I can't believe you had the gall to post these in style and beauty.
Move it to AIBU for gawds sake....

dustbuster · 18/02/2009 20:42

I love 'em Morris. I have a real penchant for granny shoes and often ogle them in shop windows. I bought these in gray patent leather after seeing DD's 85 year old great granny wearing them - in old gold leather. Tres chic.
