What should I wear to a may wedding at St.Pauls Cathedral?

I know there will be alot of important guests, I just want to blend in really but not look out of place especially in the photos on the steps! What do you think I should wear? I'm, thinking a light coat over a dress and a facinator and high heels. I haven't got anything suitable so will buy something. I went to a wedding a few weeks ago and wore a lovely off white jacquard dress and a greenish coat but I can't wear that again, it's too soon to give that outfit an outing again. I have a lovely black cotton lace on cream coat but that would be too dark for summer? It's in mid may, so probably should be summery, any ideas? Size 14, must be over knee and no cleavage, budget as little as possible, below £200, any ideas, links to get me thinking would be great

If the wrong time of year, buy a new, summery dress to wear with the coat or a light jacket to go with the dress.
If you think people will remember the outfit, they probably won't, they will be focusing on the bride, especially if you do one of the above and wear one of the pieces with something different.
Should be able to get a new dress or jacket for well under £100 let alone £200, that budget sounds quite high to me. No idea how much fashionaters are, sorry. HTH

Samsonara just read the rest of your post. (sorry). It's OK to wear black to weddings nowadays. Especially if it is black with cream rather than all over black. The black and cream lace coat sounds nice. It can be quite cool in May so a coat is essential I think, and looks smart. And black and cream are easy to find matching things for.

mugglewump,, no thankfully, imagine that, I would have to compete with Princess B's taste in facinators! Thanks hidetheribbons good advice. I'm now thinking I may be better of waiting a bit the new seasons things should be in soon, most online shops still have some remaining sales stuff.

Yes, good job. She has terrible taste in facinators.
Now, last time I was at St Pauls, I was sitting on the steps, wearing jeans and a low cut top that made my boobs look great!
Are jeans not allowed at this wedding?
Did Wills and Kate the happy couple ban them?

You need a good wedding outfit, and for that you need someone who is not me.
I have no idea about clothes.
I'm just bored and I can't sleep.

OOh you lucky thing, a wedding at St Pauls! Your outfit sounds like you could wear it again...but dare I say it, I think fascinators are a little passe now.

Could you jazz it up with a hat? Or change the emphasis with bright/metallic clutch and fab shoes?

No one will have seen you wear that outfit before will they? I bought a lovely green dress from Hobbs a couple of years ago, an investment because I had 3 weddings (but no funerals) in the space of a year. I didn't worry that folk had already seen it. They greeted it like a familair friend!

The coat I am thinking of wearing is very like this skirt here, ie black cotton lace on cream, and look a bit like this one, only nicer and longer, knee lengthhere

the dress I have already worn is this one
here, but don't want towear it again for this one. I'd like a new dress to go with the black and cream coat or to wear with the green jacquard coat which in this style and a grey green subtle floral colourhere

I also have a very similar dress same style colour but no gems likehere but and it would go with the green coat, but my belly looks a bit big in it, I think spank will hide it for a couple of hours only, the other dress has pleats to hide it!

I think the cream shift dress, which is on the knee, might look better with boots rather than shoes, but they would need to be light colour?

Do you think facinators are passe, I don't know if hat will be used again, they seem to make me look older.

Thank you blinks, I had forgotten to check FWM, and really like the blue one, used to have a lovely little cardigan in that colour and the black line striped one is lovely, will go with my coat, must try those on.
