Sunday challenge: what one thing would you recommend to beautify me?

It's my birthday next month and my mum will ask me what I want. We don't have a lot of money at the moment and I would like to take the opportunity to get something nice that we make me look/feel more beautiful.

So I want to know if you could pick just one thing what would it be? Either make up, mosituriser/cleanser or the ultimate pick-me-up outfit? Go nuts!

(FYI I am 5ft2, size 12, pear shaped, medium brown, medium length straight hair, with combination skin prone to t zone spots and looking a bit dull).

eve lom cleanser here

apparently it's the dog's bollocks of cleansers and makes a real difference

Liz earle also fab

LauriefairycakeeatsCupid · 15/02/2009 13:45

age?

I think a course of facials would do wonders for your skin. Not worth it if you're still in your 20's.

Chanel have a new range and it's lovely- refining scrubs/ firming creams etc etc etc. They all smell divine and made you feel a bit glamourous. You could always go and try and get some freebies if no-one buys the coz they're too dear!

How about a really nice coat?

Or a gym pass?

brimfull · 15/02/2009 13:48

guerlain bronzing powder is my staple I always have it is £££ but looks very natural and lasts ages.

Bumperslucious · 15/02/2009 13:49

Thanks for the replies already. I'm going to be ... 28!

I've thought about the Liz Earle, is it really that good? I had a travel version of the eve lom cleanser and just can't use it as it smells rank! Really, it's horrid. I used it when I was pg and just wanted to vomit each time!

I don't really need a coat as I have a nice tailored one I got from a charity shop for £20! Although, aren't trench coats meant to be a classic? Worth getting one? I think I might be too short?

A gym pass is a nice idea, but probably too expensive and I just haven't the time as I work part time and look after DD part time. I guess I'm looking at a £50-100 budget.

lol at evelom making you vomit

liz earle is nice but not that exciting tbh for a birthday

brimfull · 15/02/2009 13:54

how about a facial and some makeup

Bumperslucious · 15/02/2009 14:00

Some make up would be nice ggirl, but not sure what. I've got Clinque Almost Make up tinted moisturiser that is running out, I really like it, but am open to trying something better or better value (not cheap at £20, though it has lasted ages). I also need a new concealer. Is there a good one-stop-shop for that anyone would recommend. It might be nice to go to a counter and get made up and actually buy something if I liked it. But where to go?

I would recommend a chanel, mac or bobbi brown counter.

www.makeupalley.com is great to read reviews of products

Oooo go to MAC. Have them make you up and buy everything you like the look of. Their shadesticks for eyes are brilliant, you put them on your lid first and then add colour, I think that if I make an effort with my eyes I can get away with minimal make up everywhere else but still look nicely put together. Benefit lip glosses or a Juicy Tube also nice for lips- I can't bear to wear lipstick but I like both of these.
