i think this maybe due to the back getting smaller, andthe baby belly just appearing bigger.
any suggestions on what to do?

Sit ups?

I think you are probably right. The saying is you lose weight first from where it last went on. So it is not all even.

I'm sure your belly will be getting smaller it just seems bigger because the rest is getting smaller quicker iyswim?

if you have small norks buy an ultimo gel filled bra (or similar) they make your baby belly look much smaller

DO exercises that work on your abdomen like sit ups. stretching like yoga will help and exercises which make you pull up your stomach and pull it in for balance/posture

I'd heard the stomach is the last part of the body to shift weight from. Depressing isn't it. I still look pregnant and my youngest is 4 in May.
People advise doing sit-ups.

cg, it only. i have excessivly large norks.
yes, i think i need to concentrate on situps now. . i just hate doing them. which is probably why belly is in such a state to begin with. three kids and bad genetics notwithstanding.

my belly is definitly the last place to lose my baby weight this time round i do some cardio work to shift the fat as even if you have really toned muscles having a layer of fat over them will make them look as though they are not. sit ups are good and so is any excercise you do standing up! running, step machines etc. kinesis classes are good and i find my stomach muscles ache after ive been doing weights as well. good luck

CarGirl · 12/02/2009 13:16

I think pilates is probably the best thing to do, sit ups can damage your back etc if you don't do them properly.

Have you got fab bras that put your norks in their proper place - that would def help?

stitch · 12/02/2009 13:20

no, i think i need to do some serious bra shopping again. last lot were bought 18 months ago, and no longer fab.
i love doing general excercise, rather than situps, but perhaps i do need to concentrate on doing more situps than i normally do during my workout?
what about clothes though? from the shoulders i have dropped a dress size already, but the belly is stubbornly still up there. and gettng more jelly like everyday.

sort your bar out, have some private or small class pilate classes to learn how to do them properly and then do those.

Perhaps you have changed shape and need to buy different clothes. I'm apple shaped so have learnt to hide my tummy very well.

I find v-necked tops help a bit as they divert the eye from the norks. Some sorts of material divert attention from the belly. I find high waisted jeans are good for holding the stomach in and flattening it a bit.
I've started running a few times a week which has toned my legs up but the stomach is still as pregnant as ever[sigh]
