Non-granny, comfy walking shoes please.....

I know it's been done before, but all the links in the archives are out of date now....

Just about the only exercise I get is brisk walking - into town (1.5 miles)& school run ((2 miles round trip).

Thing is, I have weird wide feet, and I simply can't wear flat boots or shoes for walking these distances - I need something which gives me support like a trainer, but obviously looks a tad more stylish.

I had a pair or Ecco shoes which were quite comfy (if dull) but I was wondering about MBTs and that sort of thing?

Suggestions, advice, links please

Yes, MBT's are good if you get properly fitted - I didn't and have a pair that cut the shit out of my feet. (even though I paid £90 on ebay)

I wear Merrell's for all other activities.

And I like Ecco sandals for dog-walking in summer

Do Birkenstocks fit you? If they do, I got a fantastic pair of Birkestock-soled trainers (from the shop in Covent Garden) which are fantastically comfy, and actually look quite cool (they're all black, so I can even get away with them as half-smart).

oh god yes, I forgot about winter birkies - cheaper on this site (I have red and black clogs from them for winter):

Nah - Birkies just don't fit me I'm afraid....

Can you get 'city' trainers - like plain black ones?

I've just bought some Nature Sko boots from The Natural Shoe Store

Also have weird wide feet

I do a lot of walking with dd in the buggy (just under 4 miles to town then back) and normally wear trainers. Just bought some karrimor walking shoes - look bit like trainers but black and they also do like ankle boots. Very very impressed.

Tod's are the best! The most comfortable and hard wearing shoes ever. Gosh, remember, was transiting HongKong, half day layover, met up with friends, lovely lunch - friend accidentally tips a whole glass of Shiraz over my light trousers and beige suede Tod's...aarrghhh... The shoes were sloshing with wino. Used cold water and loo paper to get rid of the big mess and - wouldn't you know, all the red wine stains came off as well. Hallelujah!
