do I get brown or black flat knee-high boots?

Have decided at last that I have no choice but to invest in a pair of Duo boots (most shop-bought boots hang off the calf - I've got quite skinny legs), so am having to go down the expensive route of buying the Duo calf-fit ones.

I quite like these ones:

www.duoboots.com/products/boots/detail/calf_fitted_boots_timeless/ravenna/32/colour/2/

but not sure whether to go for the black or brown. I've already got some black heeled boots so thought maybe brown for the flat ones? But would brown go with everything?

Now I look at those, actually they look a bit boring and plain.....are they? Really I'd like more of a biker boot but can only afford one pair that I basically have to be able to wear with EVERYTHING so was thinking plainish ones might be best.....

God......I hate doing this.......really trying to make an effort to buy some new clothes and shoes etc as I have hardly bought anything in the past 5 years but it really is time to now. Just don't know what's in fashion or what my style is anymore, and don't want to waste money buying the wrong thing......

I am wearing some brown Hobbs boots all the time at the moment. I had to sell my black ones as my feet were larger after pregnancy. I am managing with brown OK, out of necessity I am finding that things I would not have worn with them, had I had a black pair as well, do actually look OK. (Hobbs so the style in black and brown BTW and I would really recommend them for comfort and looking good with just about anything!)

Black

Oooh yes those ones with the buckle are a very happy medium!

Brown!

Think I'll try on the Fly London ones first seeing as that shop is nearest. (also a bit put off by the VERY posh look of the Duo shop - I'm not sure their security staff would let me in the door!)

Brown/black/brown/black/aaaargh!!! There is no consensus of opinion on here!

But look! A 'head mumsnetter' has posted here - it has to be black.

OliviaMumsnet, I meant

Can I just add that I love MN. This will show that silly Guardian woman - my boot colour dilemma thread has attracted 33 posts! Who'd have thought it? See, Silly Guardian Woman, it's not all breastfeeding and buggies. The colour of my boots is hugely important part of my life.

black, deffo. unless you wear a lot of brown things of course...

Jewelsandgems · 10/02/2009 20:35

Black!
I have black ones and faced the very same dilemma on oasis (brown boots were cheaper, but black ones shiner)

I am glad I chose black, and [strangely] I love polishing them so the leather is really supple and shiny.

did you get them curly? Wearing my black ones now and they're great, I'd forgotten!
