My lovely superhip mate is 30 next week and I want to get her something that will last - budget about £100. Any ideas yummy mummies with ear to the fashion ground? I only have my ear to the banana-smeared kitchen floor these days. I was thinking silver bracelet - originally thought Sweetie Links one - but am getting the "they gone off the boil" vibe (I wouldn't reject one but she is cutting edge IYKWIM..

Hmm. My italics seem to have failed - that's how cutting edge I am..

I waa going to say the sweetie one

I will have a think

Onlyaphase · 06/02/2009 21:22

I was going to say the Links one too!

cherryblossoms · 06/02/2009 21:24

ECOne jewllery shop in Exmouth Market is definitely worth a visit.

And I like julia cook

Sorry, don't know about Sweetie Links, I'm clearly less ear to the ground than you.

slayerette · 06/02/2009 21:25

Just googled it - it's so pretty! Will you buy me one?

LibrasJusticeLeagueofBiscuits · 06/02/2009 21:27

I have to say I am not a London yummy mummy but how about something from
www.dowerandhall.com/

bodiddly · 06/02/2009 21:28

I second cherryblossoms ECone suggestion .. they do some lovely original pieces. I have a couple of things from there.

norkmaiden · 06/02/2009 21:28

not sure this counts as cutting edge, but I'm hankering after one of these

LibrasJusticeLeagueofBiscuits · 06/02/2009 21:28

Just looked those sweetie link bracelets do look nice but if, as you say, they are now over how about this, a variation on a theme
www.rox.co.uk/?selectItem+3862336_1571+1996960
which is lovely.

dotmum · 06/02/2009 21:37

Hmm. Now I've spied the links rhodium/gold one - I think this is a bit cooler, except the price (do the kids even say "cool" these days - is it sick or something)? Anyway - I love the julia stone ring - but can't make it show me a price - look v expensive? Its probably going to be between a sweetie and the tiffany e pendant..can't spend hours faffing! Any one had dealings with these people? Can she exchange/refund?

MrsHappy · 06/02/2009 21:42

Have you looked on here.

They have some great stuff and the prices often seem quite reasonable to me.

If your friend will wear gold the have this which I love.

hellymelly · 06/02/2009 21:44

Good jewellry shop EC1,in Exmouth market,or how about a plain silver key fob from Tiffany ? I had one for my 30th and still love it.They are around £100 I think, and the box alone is so fab, plus you can have them engraved.

bodiddly · 06/02/2009 21:46

EC1 is obviously very popular ... do you all live/work near there by any chance? I work very close by!

dotmum · 06/02/2009 21:48

OOOOoo - lovely. Totally distracted now and shopping for me. Gather, as Ms Winslet says..

MissisBoot · 06/02/2009 21:49

Julia Cook looks fantastic - what are her prices like?

BellaNoir · 06/02/2009 23:05

Sarah Sheridan -sheridan-designs.co.uk really intersting, I've got a few things from her. She did a bespoke engagement and wedding ring for me and she was very nice and helpful!

HolyGuacamole · 06/02/2009 23:16

Dower and Hall

HolyGuacamole · 06/02/2009 23:21

Whops, never saw someone already linked Dower and Hall

There is a fab little shop in Windsor, if I can just remember the name of it....inuti or something, not sure if they sell online?

salvadory · 06/02/2009 23:47

i bought this and it arrived today, it's lovely!

cherryblossoms · 07/02/2009 00:02

Hello again.

Oooh, glad someone else like's Julia Cook's jewellery!

Pricewise - Julia makes her jewellery individually and you can chat and tell her if you'd like certain types of stone, if you want something longer, or shorter, or with a certain design and so on. I don't think that any two things she makes are exactly alike. So she's not cheap but ... less expensive than comparable jewellery shops. Lots less expensive than EC1, for eg.

I don't know about returns. Basically, I've never wanted to return anything, so I've never asked.

Bodiddly - I used to live in E. London and my bf still lives just around the corner. Are you an East End girl?

Dotmum - I think your bf is lucky to have someone who puts so much thought into a present. Really hope she loves whatever you choose.

dotmum · 07/02/2009 20:02

Thanks so much for all suggestions - I have gone with a little silver link bracelet with two tiny charms - a star and make a wish. Can't find a picture anywhere to show you... but it is quite chunky and not as soppy as it sounds. Thanks!

dotmum · 07/02/2009 20:03

But I think your necklace is actually nicer salvadory - might change my mind!

AuntieMaggie · 07/02/2009 20:06

I have recently discovered azendi

I bought stuff for female relatives for xmas and loved the stuff they had in store - definitely looks better in store than online.

paddingtonbore · 07/02/2009 20:11

have you been to Clara Francis at Spitalfields market? Her stuff is lovely, and a bit less ubiquitous than the links sweetie bracelets.
