Your favourite jeans for DCs?

DD has got great big holes in the knees of her not cheapy jeans again and I need to find her some more hardwearing ones that can stand up to an adventurous 2.7 year old. She needs a size 3-4yrs for the leg length and I'm not against buying her "boys" ones if they perhaps have patches on the knees or are particularly good. Budget up to £20. What do you recommend?

Well my hot tip it to use those iron on patches on the new jeans wherever they come from - on the inside of the knee to reinforce them

Other than that I can advise on boy jeans: Red Herring or St George are v good quality, buy in the sales at Debenhams

HTH

GAP ones are always good and my dd has had several pairs which have all been heardwearing. I've always got them from Ebay too as couldn't stand to pay the shop prices.

listenglisten · 05/02/2009 17:44

Actually, I have a pair of girls jeans my dd doesn't like (she says they look like boys) from GAP. You are welcome to them if you like. I will check the size.

Mimia · 05/02/2009 17:47

Where can I buy those iron on patches BoysAreLikeDogs?

And that would be very kind of you listenglisten, DD needs height 104cm

Ok i've found them but can't seem to find a size. I think they might be age 4-5 so probably a bit big. They measure 63cm from the waist to bottom of leg if that's any help.

They are dark blue, GAP flare.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 05/02/2009 17:55

Used to get 'em in Woolies

Mimia · 05/02/2009 17:56

Thank you for looking, they are abit too long, but it was kind of your to offer.

gap slim fit for ds

he has worn the knees out though and has iron on patches now

any recommendations for slim fit ones??

JRocks · 05/02/2009 18:00

Oddly I've found that DS doesn't seem to wear out his Tesco jeans! Also fat face have quite thick denim - bit of a price difference between the two

waitingforgodot · 05/02/2009 19:28

i second the tesco jeans!

Marne · 05/02/2009 19:35

Tesco and Asda jeans are great (not too stiff)

Dd2 wears Next jeans with the elastic waist band (she has a round tummy).

Marne · 05/02/2009 19:36

Boden cords with knee patches are great, both dd's have a pair from the sale.

fattiemumma · 05/02/2009 19:37

H&M. they fit nicely, have loads of different styles and are always about £10

davidbowiescodpiece · 05/02/2009 19:37

Gap. Comfy, soft, hardwearing and adjustable waist. They are the only thing I buy for dd that I don't mind paying a bit more for.

electra · 05/02/2009 19:37

I vote Gap for fit and quality.

Swedes · 05/02/2009 19:39

JojoMamanBebe's boys' jeans look marvellous on my DD. And DS3 will be able to inherit.

Ingles2 · 05/02/2009 19:42

we like H&M jeans. Knees aren't brilliant but then my boys are football mad

Amandoh · 05/02/2009 19:51

H&M make great jeans for boys. Lots of different styles and colour washes so they probably cater well for girls too.

Could you buy your daughter a couple of cheap pairs from the supermarket for "rough play"? Or what about looking on Ebay?

Mimia · 05/02/2009 20:00

Thank you for all the replies. I'm going to look in H&M and Gap tomorrow and I think I will look at the Tesco jeans (we don't have an Asda) to get a couple of pairs of play ones.

She has some fantastic cords from H&M actually, great fit on her and patched on the knee with hearts. I'd forgotten they were from there so I hope the jeans fit similarly well.

We are now the proud owners of a pair of H&M jeans AND some pretty iron on patches also from H&M which I can use to cover the holes in her old ones for playing in. They had Ladybird/Flowers/Strawberry ones and Hello Kitty ones. I bought two packs and will have fun tonight also putting patches on her tops to cover stains. I couldn't see any boys patches though.

OP posts:
Mimia · 06/02/2009 14:25

The patches were £1.99 for a pack of three, which I didn;t think was too bad either.

I get GAP jeans in the sales - dd3 is wearing ones that are nearly 5 years old now from dd1 - so they stand the test of time. Also Next if not too embellished. If you ever buy from the states - The Children's Place, Gymboree and Old Navy also hard wearing.

mrsruffallo · 06/02/2009 14:43

H&M Skinnies!

Mimia · 06/02/2009 15:27

Ah, it is H&M skinnies she has ended up with actually, I tried to persude her on a bootleg style but evidently she has more taste than moi

We tried a pair on in gap, but they just were not long enough in the body for her.
