Who has had a nose job and how has it changed the way you feel about yourself?

I have broken my nose 3 times now and it is hideous. I had self esteem issues anyway, and the nose is not helping as I hate meeting new people or having my photo taken. My neice had a nose job (hush hush) a few months back as she wants to be a model and thought it was holding her back but since no one is meant to know, I haven't really asked about it. I know it is relatively safe, not too painful and a lot cheaper than it used to be so I am just looking for some first hand advice from any of you who have actually been brave enough to go through with it.

I know a lot of you will think this is sooooo vain and there are a lot worse things to deal with than a crooked nose but I am just looking for some feedback.

Thanks everyone who helps me.

I keep saying I'm going to have my nose fixed but haven't been brave enough to go for a consultation yet.

I'm not worried about the actual surgery as I've had other cosmetic procedures. It's just that your nose is smack bang in the middle of your face. If it goes wrong, or you don't "suit" the new one then there's no hiding it.

I shall watch this thread with interest.

I have had 2
Mine was broken and I have a deviated septum
I managed to get it done on our private health but the NHS would have also done it

Mine is much straighter now and the bump is gone
Alas the septum is still not fixed
I might try a third time but I'd need to find a new surgeon

EldonAve · 05/02/2009 14:01

forgot to add it was pain free both times

Interesting, EldonAve.

I have a deviated septum and was once booked for surgery but cancelled at the last minute. I have had my tonsils out (as my deviated septum was causing lots of ENT infections) and laser surgery for short sight (I couldn't wear glasses on my wonky nose) but I still think I ought to get my deviated septum fixed. Is it difficult to fix?

EldonAve · 05/02/2009 17:05

Well I didn't think it would be difficult to fix and I certainly didn't imagine having the op twice
However I think it is a bit hit and miss - if they remove too much then your nose might collapse
I might have had a duff surgeon though

Collapsed nose

Having just seen a very nasty case of overdone cosmetic surgery on the bus this afternoon, am seriously rethinking need for correction to septum.

well, I can recommend Mr Michael Stearns and his website is www.londonentsurgeon.com

I used to work for him.
