After being laughed at yesterday for my love of M&S, being 26 I have decided once my baby comes, I'm going to be amazing and really well dressed (ha!).

So, where do you shop religiously? And do you have a style?

Ha! don't think it could be described as a style, more, whatever covers the left over baby bump.

But pre-dcs, I loved H&M, they always have really nice trousers that seemed to fit me perfectly and not pricey at all.

Next is good, but I find their tops taper at the bottom whivh is no good for hiding a saggy tummy. Someone told me M & Co have good tops that hide belly but haven't checked it out yet.

KingRolo · 05/02/2009 13:22

Another shout for H&M - I love their jeans and there are always nice cheapish tops. Got a fab coat there this year too. Also like the baby / kids stuff, useful as I can pretend I'm shopping for the baby then casually pick up some bits for me too!

Next is awful imho. I'd definitely avoid it unless you want to look like a badly dressed 45 year old.

NatalieJane · 05/02/2009 13:29

Debenhams is really good, lots of different designers, always something that suits/fits well.

FWIW, I am 25, and about a quarter of my wardrobe comes from M&S, they're not as bad as their reputation, in fact, I am always quietly impressed with them!

MamacitaGordita · 05/02/2009 13:34

I am 26 and I love M&S!

My two younger sisters are tres fashionable- one is a doctor (so spends her wage in Reiss, Whistles, Harvey Nichols) and the other a student (so spends her loan in American Apparel, Topshop and Urban Outfitters). Alas I cannot compete with newly mahoosive boobs and post-baby tummy, plus I have no money!

I agree H&M can be great but I go when it's quiet as it can get so packed and messy!

I love vintage clothes actually but am too lazy to do it properly (charity shops) so end up paying too much in 'vintage' shops. But the clothes are good quality and one of a kind. And usually really reasonable.

I've just moved to the country so no shops to speak of round here... just as well really...

janeite · 05/02/2009 13:36

My style probably bounces between Robert Smith, a 1950s secretary, Gothic Alice In Wonderland and Mrs Twit, with a dash of Minnie Mouse.

Staple shops are Gap, M&S Limited Collection and a few bits from Warehouse, Oasis and Principles. I have Vivienne Westwood aspirations but a Gap sale budget and I also like a Swedish company called Saint Martins but my local stockist seems to have stopped stocking them.

Next is vile, although the shoes can be okay.

PuppyMonkey · 05/02/2009 13:40

My style is a 42-yera-old woman - brown boots, colourful skirts, autumn tones with bobbed hair.

THE WHITE STUFF, with a bit of Monsoon and Jigsaw. And River Island for jeans and stuff. Debenhams is good for coats.

francagoestohollywood · 05/02/2009 13:43

I'm 38. I don't really hav a style. I mix high street purchases (Zara, Topshop being my favourite) with boutique pieces that I buy in the sales (but not on a regular basis. I buy a pair of nice trousers every 2/3 years)

I join Janeite in her dislike for Next.

blueshoes · 05/02/2009 13:44

Zara for me. I prefer Spanish and Italian style.

MamacitaGordita · 05/02/2009 13:54

I do like Zara but why are their sizes so teeny?! Someone even bought a babygro for DS from there and it was rather fitted! Tiny gorgeous Spanish ladies and babies...

Fimbo · 05/02/2009 13:59

Zara (but for tops only, would never ever fit my thunder thighs into their trousers).

New Look for their £10 hula jeans.

Fat Face

White Stuff

Boden

M & S Limited Collection only

Kew

Mango (occasionally)

Espirit

Fimbo · 05/02/2009 14:00

Forgot about GAP.

francagoestohollywood · 05/02/2009 14:07

Yes Fimpo, I like zara, but their trousers are hideous fit. And always too long (and I'm quite tall)

francagoestohollywood · 05/02/2009 14:08

Fimpo??? sorry Fimbo

janeite · 05/02/2009 14:10

Zara is terrible for me, as I am short and curvy. The Birmingham one always looks a bit like a jumble sale too. Great for the dds though.

Fimbo · 05/02/2009 14:42

Lol I was looking for a name change and actually quite like Fimpo

brimfull · 05/02/2009 14:47

I am not 26 but

white company
white stuff
fat face
debenhams
la redoute
tk maxx
gap
ebay

most stuff is reduced

francagoestohollywood · 05/02/2009 14:48
Grin
MamacitaGordita · 05/02/2009 15:31

oooh I forgot about TK Max... really strong urge to shop now...

SilentTerror · 05/02/2009 17:20

I like
White Stuff
Great Plains,especially skirts and dresses
Autograph/Limited Collection
Boden,as long as not t oo obviously Boden
Noa Noa
Warehouse,especially for tunics/dresses
Fat Face,occasionally
Kew,for sludgy coloured tee shirts
Avoca,for cute cardigans
Topshop,for vests,plain tees,cardigans
New Look,shoes,plain tees,Hula Jeans
Monsoon,especially trousers.
My style is classic but quirky, ifthat makes sense!
I suppose my 'signature' would be chunky jewellery.

flibertygibet · 08/02/2009 22:08

M&S - Limited Collection
Whistles button up cardies..have many! But only buy in sale or on ebay!
H&M trousers (weirdly, I'm a size 10 at M&S, yet a size 16 in H&M!!)
Zara for long cardies and tops (but definitely NOT trousers as cannot fit into them!)
James Perse t-shirts - was persuaded years ago by an extravagant friend to blow a huge amount of money in there. Five years later I am still wearing them all..price per wear, darling!

Actually just bought a few things from Boden, reluctantly but kinda like them (black suede boots)

Whistles would be a fave store but only in the sales!

Shoes - afraid birkies are my only fave shoe, along with my Frye biker boots.

northernsoul · 09/02/2009 19:37

I'm 35 with an indie/ classic style i guess.
Shopped at French Connection for years, along with Ted Baker,Topshop and Reiss. Ocassional Zara. Always M&S for undies!

mileniwmffalcon · 09/02/2009 19:55

34, no particular style, i wear clothes i like i guess more or less veering towards alternative/surfy/rockabilly/dr zhivago/librarian depending on mood/weather. i tend to rehash my wardrobe a lot whenever i can afford to.

i shop mostly on ebay, either for named stuff i know i'll like or vintage stuff, or i have in mind a particular colour/style/shape item so i search for that.

i wore a lot of white stuff when i was a 16+ but it's all rather samey and as a 12 now i have a wider choice available. so topshop, h&m, tkmaxx, surf shops, bench/hooch type independent shops, vintage clothes shops/markets/charity shops, warehouse, oasis, primark, zara etc.
