Need new hair straighteners

as I now have shorter hair my old straighteners are too wide which were ideal before when my hair was much much longer.

I have very thick coarse wavy prone to frizz hair. My hairdresser says to stay away from GHDs as there are plenty of good alternatives on the market (can't afford them anyway!). Any recommendations?

My Nicky Clarke ones work great for me

Sorry I swear by ghd - only ones that can get my frizzy hair poker straight!

I have these

Can't find a decent UK link but this one says they're just under 60 quid. They were a present from my DP so I don't know where he got them from but he assured me they weren't that expensive! Keep an eye out on eBay.

You can use them on normal setting but the sonic one is great. I've used GHDs in the past but I think their "standard" is a myth now too.

I'm with 2forjoy ghd are dear but worth it

I love GHD's too. I have had others but none have been as good.

My last pair which cost about £40 and I had to replace them because they were drying my hair so much. No such problems with the ghd's and they are so quick to use.

Flamesparrow · 01/02/2009 11:36

My mate loves hers, but they were GHD price too.

The only straighteners I have ever managed to use are GHDs (I've borrowed them from a loooooooovely friend), and as much as I hate having to use straighteners, The McClusky is evil without them, so I am going to have to resort to getting some of my own with birthday money

I got remington ones from argos (fab) they were about £24. Prior to that I had only ever used ghd's as my hair is a similar texture to yours.
Straighteners have come a long way so you could get away with a much cheaper pair.
The usually say what temperature they go up to 210 or 230 are the best and on the 'argoose' site there are usually reviews as well.

There are many ghd copies around now. The technology has been learnt and copied. I use She ones but there are loads that are similar and as effective. Half the price of ghds.

Thanks for the ideas, still thinking about which ones to get when I can venture out again.
