Hi

DP and I have a night away at a hotel tomorrow night. He has booked us into one of their restaurants, but the website says Dress Code is "Resort Casual". Anyone have any clue what that means !?

Snort.

Bikini? Kaftan?

Thinking about it, though, prob means something like tailored trousers and shirt/blouse - maybe something a bit Whistles or Hobbs

Pmsl.

It sounds like the sort of thing you get in the free catalogues that come in the Mail on Sunday.

Answer here for you off google.

Get yer Country club gear out gal!

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 30/01/2009 20:42

Can I ask which hotel? Or at least where? Have just read the link from Innocent and am trying to imagine how that would translate to hotel in UK (assuming you are in UK??)!

Gloria42 · 31/01/2009 10:58

St Andrews in January, so def not snorkle & bikini .

This is the hotel, golf-focused so maybe more Pringle minus golf shoes??

I would interpret the dress code as whatever you would wear on a smart night out ie not jeans but rather a dress or smart trousers with a fab blouse or top (agree with DTDT: something Whistles, Hobbs etc). For DH, I would think he needs to wear a smart shirt but not a tie. My DH would probably go for a suit and shirt without tie. If he feels too smart he can remove jacket but nothing worse than feeling under-dressed imo.

I can only assume that most of the guests will be American from that description.

Gloria42 · 31/01/2009 11:39

Thing is, apart from work suits, I don't really do smart. A night out for me is skinny black jeans and a top (maybe smock style)

hmmm.......how about black skinny trousers (they may have a no-denim rule), loose-ish top (say in a really nice silky fabric) and heels?

say a top like this or

this

or this

and wear some bold accessories - a fab bangle and a stunning pair of earrings?

Gloria42 · 31/01/2009 12:51

I have this top? And I don't think you'd know they were denim if I wore black skinnies??

White linen trousers seems to be de rigeur at this sort of place. make sure they are lined if that is the case as I hate looking at other women's wobbly behind and g-string throught those things.

foxytocin · 31/01/2009 12:56

ah was summer holiday. should read op first

Gloria42 · 31/01/2009 12:59

lol at skorts and slacks

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 31/01/2009 13:59

Gloria, your top with black skinnies and some statement jewellery will be perfect, imo. No point in buying something for the sake of it and you won't feel comfortable if you dont usually do dresses for nights out

Gloria42 · 31/01/2009 14:43

Leaving soon so thanks for all your help!
