Am thinking of paying for dsil to have cut and blow dry at Toni & Guy for birthday present.

Anyone know approx how much this will cost?

Around £42 for a stylist here

MissisBoot · 30/01/2009 15:44

What a lovely idea!

Sorry to say but my experience of going to T&G has not been a happy one. They don't seem to actually listen to what their clients want just do their standard haircuts - which is great if that's what they want.

Is that where she normally gets her haircut? Just don't want you to feel responsible if she doesn't get what she wants iyswim...

NilDesperandum · 30/01/2009 15:46

why not give her a voucher for £x at x hairsalon? then she can choose what she would like done?
nice idea btw

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 30/01/2009 15:47

I'd ask around friends with great hair and ask where they get theirs done. I used to go to the 'best' most expensive salon in town and always thought they did a good job untill a friend recommended her hairdressers to me. Honestly they can do magic compared to my old hairddressers. Just because they are Toni and Guy doesn't mean they are the best.

Lovely idea. Yeah they may not be the best to come people BUT its the name....and whats the harm with that..?!

dh goes to toni&guy as he is happy with his stylist but I go to a local hairdressers...because im happy with her and like what she does.

eNABlemetobebetter · 30/01/2009 20:01

I would choose something else tbh.

Had my hair cut at two different T&Gs and wasn't worth the money.

PetitFilou1 · 30/01/2009 20:24

Agree with mississboot - I would not want a voucher for a T&G haircut as they just do what they want - but a lovely idea, personally I would choose another hairdresser though

Dalex · 30/01/2009 20:29

Down here, you can see a TOny and Guy haircut a mile off. What about something more beauty like - spa, massage etc

BikeRunSki · 31/01/2009 12:28

Does she have curly hair? T&G (Newcastle) once told me that they "Don't do curly hair" - about 10 years ago. They were so rude that I have never darkened their doorstep since - in any town (don't live in Newcastle anymore).

midnightexpress · 31/01/2009 12:33

Another naysayer I'm afraid. I used to have a wonderful stylist at our local T&G, but then he moved to Australia and I tried several others before abandoning them in favour of the Rainbow Room (Scottish chain - not sure if they exist down south), who are cheaper, and much better, IMHO.

But I think the idea is a nice one. Just wouldn't especially recommend T&G.

Shhhh · 31/01/2009 15:48

Its a gift..ffs...Im sure she will love it. .
Its (t&g) a brand and at least she will be familiar with them. I guess it will be a one off and her dsil may never return again BUT its a lovely idea.

So what if she doesn't return, who knows she may love the cut. I would be grateful if someone was thoughtful enough to get me a gift like that...these days all I manage to get off my bil is a bottle of wine...I would be jumping at a "haircut"

TheFirstLiffey · 31/01/2009 21:26

Bikerunski, I got attitude from t&g about my hair too. LIke I had curly hair just to piss them off. It took them longer to cut and longer to blowdry. eh, sorry, NOT!

I never go there any more either!
