Tinted Moisturiser recommendations please!

Am off skiing next week and am on the hunt for a decent tinted moisturiser. I usually wear Chanel Vitalumiere foundation every day. I really don't want to put on a full face of make-up just to ski but equally my natural skin tone requires a bit of assistance in looking "perky and fresh" .

Obviously I will be wearing sunscreen too so that may have some bearing on your recommendations

I love Giorgio Armani Face Fabric. Good coverage but light. I wish it had a higher SPF than 12 though.

Libralovesbiscuits1975 · 27/01/2009 11:34

I wear Laura Mercier which I quite like.
Do NOT under any circumstances buy No 7 intelligent colour foundation. It's like putting oil on your skin. Uck.

Wizzska · 27/01/2009 12:05

Prescriptives do a good one.

BitOfFun · 27/01/2009 12:12

I like the Boots No 7 tinted moisturizer, not intelligent colour, I think it's Soft And Sheer?

LadyPinkofPinkerton · 27/01/2009 12:17

Body Shop vitmain E tinted moisturider is lovely

Pollyanna · 27/01/2009 12:36

laura mercier is by far the best imo.

Mum1369 · 27/01/2009 12:41

Benefit tinted is good too

SunSense do a good tinted sunscreen which is reasonably moisturising too (although perhaps not enough for skiing).

MamacitaGordita · 27/01/2009 12:55

I use Benefit You Rebel tinted moisturiser and it has SPF 15 too. They do a darker shade and a lighter shade, but the idea is that it blends to almost any skin tone. I think it's fab!

BobtheWoodmouse · 27/01/2009 13:23

Chanel do their own tinted moisturiser which I quite like, there are only 3 shades I think, so not much room for manoevre. Perhaps wear it over their face protector (can't remember the official name) which is a colourless veil with high spf, about 50 if I remember correctly.

Or, what I use for skiing is 'real skin 30' by Chantecaille (stocked at Space NK) - it's fairly sheer, not tons of coverage and on my skin, feels like a tinted moisturiser although it is in fact foundation. Make sure you get the spf 30 one, not the no spf one. It is handy for the slope too - in a solid compact and sponge and the back of the sponge holder is almost a mirror so you can apply on the chair lift!

Benefit You Rebel is great. Great for skiing as it's a bit more moisturising than some other similar products.

Thanks ladies . Loads of choice there. Will be off to John Lewis in the morning to investigate various options.

Probably a dumb question but here goes: Those products which have spf in them.....does that mean I don't need to apply sun cream too? Or would I apply them beneath/on top of sun cream?

The spf would need to be high, say 25+ for skiing. Any less than that in your tinted moisturiser, you can either put on a protector first - Clarins do a good one, about spf 40 or the Chanel one I mentioned above, then on top of that, put your tinted moisturiser.. For the 'Real Skin' which is spf 30, that is all you need. Whatever you use though, you will need some more of it to top up at lunchtime etc as it can slide off or be wiped off during the day, so a touch-up stick of straight forward suncream with high spf would be handy in your pocket - Piz Buin do a good one with lipscreen one end and sun cream the other. By the time you have all your gear on and sun glasses/goggles, hat etc it is usually the tip of your nose that needs it. The tendancy to burn comes at lunchtime when you strip off and lay back in the sun chairs at the restaurant.

wasabipeanut · 27/01/2009 19:49

Bobbi Brown does a good one which I use - SPF 25. I really like it.

rookiemater · 27/01/2009 19:52

I use Clinique Almost Makeup which has SPF 15. Wouldn't go back to foundation now, find it too heavy and clogging.

If away in sunny climes or skiing ( nostalgic smiley required) then I'd use a good facial sun screen of SPF 60 as well which I apply under the make up but top up during the day.

Bumperslucious · 27/01/2009 19:54

I use Clinque almost make up and will be getting it again when it runs out.

MissisBoot · 27/01/2009 20:03

I can second the bobbi brown one - I love it!
