Does anyone know is this hormonal? Also what can I do to help, my hair is really lank and dull, and my skin is dry. Can anyone suggest anything to use, or supplements that can help. Thanks

My ds is three months old and still fully bf, and my hair is also falling out! It is hormonal, and I think it's post pregnancy, rather then due to you stopping bfing.

I barely lost a shred of hair during pregnancy, which is why it's falling out now. It will stop though, probably after about two months.

I had heared that it falls out post pregnancy but hadn't had any up until now, so that was why I thought it coincided with the weaning. I must admit I had great hair during me pregnancy so shouldn't complain that its a bit crappy now.

as soon as it falls out it starts growing back, so it will replenish itself fairly quickly. It's annoying though.

Ater both my pg's my hair fell out in a awful 'male pattern baldness' thing, ie I recceeded really badly I don't think it's the weaning, it's just hormones in general post pg.

Almost certainly hormonal. But, as ever, I always recommend seeing your GP for a quick once over to remove any other issues (underactive thyroid is very common amongst post-natal women for example, and the thyroid controls hormonal function).

I would suggest seeing a homeopath for hormone balancing treatment. I did the same when DS2 was 8 months old and it helped immensely.

If you are into natural/complementary medicine, aromatherapy can provide some amazing hormone balancing treatments. A good therapist will try a number of combinations of oils until s/he finds the right one for you. I have worked with many clients for hormonal issues and the results can be quick and profound.

Supplements will help but you need to pay attention to diet too. Almonds and other nuts are great for dry skin, hair and nail issues - try and snack on them once a day (the plain, not salted variety ). Also drinking plenty of water to rehydrate the body from within. Phyto-oestrogens such as soya, linseeds (found in Bergen bread if you want a quick fix!), dark green leafy veg can all help too.
