dsil has a friend that works at the same place as her dh.

they go out together and get drunk and i think its great becuasebil & sil moved down here and know no-one.

so sil was telling me that her friend did a course on hairdressing - "oh really" says i
"she will do your hair whenever you want!"
"great!"

so i mention my hair needs dying, and i think sil wants me to meet her friend to see if we get on and make it a triumverate of happy friendliness.

so sil says that the friend can dye my hair this saturday i have to provide the dye

sure thats great - we arrange a time

i get a phonecall that the friend charges £20

£20 ....for something dh does usually - and i have to provide my own dye.

so i said ok

then i phoned back and said "can you tell her no, cos i think its expensive actually"

what do you think?

its not like shes a qualified hairdreser - i thought it wsa 'friend' thing - i was bringing the dye - i could have bloody done it- i usually do.

wwyd?

hairdressers doesn't cost that much more.

nope - i wouldn't

£20 for putting home colourant on your hair is a bit of a rip off IMO

Iklboo · 26/01/2009 14:02

Same as you - if it was a home ghair dye kit and I had to buy it I wouldn't want to fork out another £20 when I couls get DH to do it or do it myself like normal

Tortington · 26/01/2009 14:03

thanks!

its not like there was acut and blow dry included int here.

i thought i was being mean

considering her time and everything

I wouldn't pay £20 for that, plus dye (what is hair dye in shops, about a tenner?)

I only pay £35 for professional colour, cut & blow dry

(but then I am a tight yorkshire lass )

MissusLindt · 26/01/2009 14:04

What do you mean by she did a course? Was she almost finished a course but did not qualify?

Bit cheeky to charge you £20 unless it is a complicated job, such as highlights.

fishie · 26/01/2009 14:05

is it just all over dye or is she planning something exciting with slices or whatever it is called?

it would be good if she can get hold of professional stuff, they have a better range of colours. otherwise, ripoff you are right.

Tortington · 26/01/2009 14:05

no i think your right.

yes, the hair dye would cost that becuase my hair is long.

and the social setting realy threw me off., like you say - i might have brought her a little something as a thank you.

i am not judging people very well at all recently

don't feel mean, SIL/friend should have clarified in the first place that there would be a fee

Tortington · 26/01/2009 14:14
