i've had mine whitened by the dentist using perfectil.
has done a grand job.

Yunyun · 25/01/2009 13:56

bicarbonate of soda is the best

southeastastra · 25/01/2009 14:09

crowns

ladycornyofsilke · 25/01/2009 14:15

Dragon - how much was that and did it hurt?

ladycornyofsilke · 25/01/2009 14:16

That Beverley Hills stuff makes a difference to mine. Cheap as chips.

Tiramissu · 25/01/2009 14:19

Dragon,
how much does it cost and how long does it last?

Yunyun,
how do you use the bicarbonate of soda?

Yunyun · 25/01/2009 14:59

Wet toothbrush, dip into pot of bicarb, brush until you see a difference

Tiramissu · 25/01/2009 15:08

thanks

whoingodsnameami · 25/01/2009 15:10

I tried that once yungun, its like having a mouthful of salt, very unpleasant.

DragonLowFatSpread · 25/01/2009 16:08

The perfectil thing cost £300.
For that you get top and bottom moulds that are reused every 3 months. You get a few tubes of the bleach too. After that you can buy more tubes for about £15, but lasts for ages.

I finally decided to get mine done when my front veneer broke and i had to get a crown. i decided to have the rest of my teeth whitened before i had the crown fitted as if i'd had the crown fitted first i would never be able to have my teeth whitened, and it was one of those nagging issues that i'd wanted done for ages.

I'm pleased with the result, and of the crown. Feel much more confident smiling for photos etc.

It doesn't hurt although if you use too much bleach and it goes on your gums it can get sore.(just don't use much at all). I found my bottom teeth get quite sensitive during the whitening process so i whiten them less than the top.

twinsetandpearls · 25/01/2009 16:12

blanx toothpaste , on offer at boots

AnybodyHomeMcFly · 25/01/2009 16:13

So do you have to keep on doing it forever? Doesn't it just last? I too am thinking of it but am worried about my already sensitive gums and the results not lasting that long...

Tiramissu · 25/01/2009 16:14

thank you Dragon,
it is one of the things that i wanted to do for long time now.
£300 is not too bad if it lasts. I thought you have to repeat every few months and pay the full amount every time.
I think i will go for it. I hate my yellow teeth...all those years of smoking before DC... Thanks

DragonLowFatSpread · 25/01/2009 16:15

you do the first stint of half and hour every day for two weeks.
after that you do a top up every 3 months but only half an hour for two days.

tbh, it's been more that 3 months and i haven't had to do it again yet. i'll know i need to when the crown looks lighter than the tooth next to it.
i'd say the results last.

AnybodyHomeMcFly · 25/01/2009 16:18

Cool thanks Dragon
