Do you only feel comfortable with long hair?

After cutting mine after both children I have quickly realised (then forgotten again, and done it again) that I cannot feel like 'myself' without long hair.

It's weird - there are a few reasons I suppose.

One, it makes me feel as though I am judged as a whole body rather than just my face and hair - if it's short I feel rather exposed and as though I have to wear very neat clothes and look smart, and be thin, because I'm more visible and also short hair is usually more 'controlled' iyswim.

My clothes also seem wrong for short hair, I like flarey knee length skirts, or longer, or dresses, or maybe jeans - but not in a neat sort of way really.

It just doesn't suit my personality having short hair.

Does anyone else feel like this? It's now just past shoulder length and the relief at being 'me' again is incredible.
Also I can get out the clothes I got before I cut it and wear them again!

the matrix is too complicated...but i dress like keanu reeves here

so....if you see someone dressed like KR with their hair in 8 plaits...it's me!

Yes who actually successfully uses pylon pins!?! They are sooo ungrippy!

I used to use pylon pins as well as the flat kind when doing a messy chignon in exactly the way you describe Watoose - kind of a 'throw everything you;ve got at the problem' solution also used to use them when creating one of my many ridiculous clubbing hairdos, e.g. bjork knots or similar [child of the 90s emoticon].

Ah that would explain their ready availability then

I wanted to do that Bjork thing. Never had enough hair though.

I wear my nearly waist length hair up in a loose kind of french pleat mostly - and if you use one of the ibis clips (long metal clip like a birds beak) you just brush it to the nape of your neck, twirl round and fold up and over - stick clip through and your're done.

I do dye my hair, but this is as my grey is in a big stripe and I'd look like a badger otherwise
