Problem I didn't expect to have... what is the best way to touch up red Louboutin soles?

I have worn them three times and the soles are looking a little scraped.

I know that someone suggested nail varnish but any idea what exact brand and colour matches- or any other ideas?

The thought of applying nail varnish to the soles of £300+ shoes makes me .

CountessDracula · 24/01/2009 15:30

they have red soles?
who sees the soles anyway?

pagwatch · 24/01/2009 15:30

yeah me too . But the scrapes show as white against a red sole - so quite noticeable.

Otherwise I shall just have to be carried everywhere ...

CD

Seriously?
[grinn]

It is the whole of the bottom of the shoe so actually you can see them...
Tis very pretty

I would take them back pagwatch - I really would. At that price...

CountessDracula · 24/01/2009 15:32

oh i thought the soles were the bits on the bottom
Do you mean the side of the sole then?

CountessDracula · 24/01/2009 15:32

can you put a pic on here?

ComeOVeneer · 24/01/2009 15:32

I'm with CD, does it really matter? And what difference does it make what make they are?

ComeOVeneer · 24/01/2009 15:34

Oh are they platform style, so do you mean it is on the side rather than the actual sole?

pagwatch · 24/01/2009 15:35

They were a very sweet 20th wedding anniversary present from DH who wanted to buy me something I would never ever buy myself.
And I only said they were Louboutin as they are a specific red and i hoped someone would know what would match them.

But by all means feel free to take any further shots you like.

LOL pagwatch. You must have guessed that would happen, this is mumsnet...

RobynLou · 24/01/2009 15:38

laboutin's red soles were based on the designer seeing girls who'd painted the soles with nail varnish - so you'd be being authetic! can't help with colour though i'm afraid.

southeastastra · 24/01/2009 15:39

you'd probably be better off with some sort of paint, the soles are leather aren't they?

pagwatch · 24/01/2009 15:39

Yes I forgot where I was

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 24/01/2009 15:39

take any further shots?
what does that mean?

The sole of a shoe is surely teh BOTTOM ie the bit that goes against the ground
All I asked was is it the side bit, ie the bit you can see!!! How is that taking a shot?

Earlybird · 24/01/2009 15:40

Isn't scraping inevitable if you wear them outside and walk on pavements? Maybe they're supposed to be 'inside' shoes only?

CountessDracula · 24/01/2009 15:40

And fwiw I have no issue with you having a pair of louboutins, I would have some myself if i thought I could walk in them.

ComeOVeneer · 24/01/2009 15:40

Sorry, ignore me, am sick and cranky . Just sounded like bit of a brag.

mrsseanbean · 24/01/2009 15:41

Can you still get red tippex?
Red crayon is annoying long-lasting in all the wrong places.

Nail varnish would probably be more hardwearing though.

mrsseanbean · 24/01/2009 15:41

(annoyingly)

CountessDracula · 24/01/2009 15:41

so they actually have red soles? The bit that goes on the ground?
Well surely if that is the case they should make them out of something hard wearing and if they scratch then take them back and complain obviously

southeastastra · 24/01/2009 15:42

i found this did you not get another set of soles? i'd contact them, they' may send you some. lucky you too

Earlybird · 24/01/2009 15:42

I'd check their website or call manufacturer for advice about wear/tear before I got out the nail varnish or paint.

slackrunner · 24/01/2009 15:43

Who's taking shots? I certainly wasn't taking a pot at you.

If I had spent that money on shoes I would expect them not to scratch, that's all. I'm not criticising, I just expect quality products to be just that - quality. You're quite within your rights to complain.

pagwatch · 24/01/2009 15:44

Sorry you are sick COV.

Honestly wasn't a brag. I bragged when I got them . I am just trying to keep them nice as I suspect I am never allowed anymore shoes ever...

CD - he bought quite low ones - and it seems you are not actually supposed to walk in them anyway
