Hair Dye Problems - Grey Hair Resistant to Dye

Has anyone ever experienced this before? My sister had her hair dyed - she has very dark brown hair which is going grey. The hairdresser she went to used hair dye which didn't take. She then used something for those who have grey hair which is resistant to dye and it worked but on the second occasion it didn't. Has anyone ever experienced this and if so any advice?? TIA

I went to a hairdresser a while ago and the first time they coloured it the dye didnt take. I think the hairdresser was a bit inexperienced - her boss thought she had use the wrong base and when she did it again it took. It might be worth trying somewhere else and telling them what happened. I do mine at home now as I can't afford the hairdresser at the moment and it takes every time!

Thanks bodiddly. Can I ask which hair dye you use?

The first time I wnt to the haridressers I now use, the dye didn't take,a dn after my hair had been dried they started the whole process agian!!!

I'm not sure why your sisters had trouble on the 2nd occation if it was the same dye. To me it sounds like the hairdresser didn't use strong enough stuff again.

I'm very grey (95% -don't tell anyone) and have my roots done every 3 weeks, so the hairdressers can get it right. I go to essensuells, and I think they use Wella.

Grey hair can be very resistant. My dp is grey in patches and was going to his neice's salon, they had a lot of trouble getting it to take.
I managed ok as I did level 3 colouring so had studied this. A lot of hair colourists can have good success. I softened it with peroxide first then added the colour. Another way is pre-pigmenting then adding the next stage.
It isn't uncommon.
