What do you think of this dress...

...here?

Baby due May 7 and going to wedding in Ireland a scant 4 weeks later. I think it might work with some peep toe heels and a "statement necklace" Do you think it's too wintery for an early June wedding? Or am I worrying uneccessarily as I'm likely to look like a hag in anything?

BTW I'm 5'4 and a size 12-14.

Don't like it sorry. The models pose reminds me of Cruella De Veil somehow. You can get somenice dresses you can bf in. I think Jojo Maman Bebe do them. Let me find a link...

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 14/01/2009 21:35

Like the style but not the colour. I think its a bit severe.

modernart · 14/01/2009 21:38

No, you don't need a cape - it will swamp you

modernart · 14/01/2009 21:40

And not long sleeved black for June, there's bound to be loads of better things out there

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 14/01/2009 21:40

Too wintery and heavy looking.

Sorry.

ARe there any other choices?

leakyR · 14/01/2009 21:42

Think it looks like the wrong style for a shorter person, but there seems to be very little out there in the way of smart nursing wear.

Had an awful experience at a wedding with DS1 when he was 3 months old, trying to bf wearing a wrap dress and a camisole underneath.

anything here?

or here?

will you be up to travelling so soon after your baby?

leakyR · 14/01/2009 21:57

There are a lot of "ifs" when answering that.

"If" baby arrives near to EDD and "if" all straightforward then I should be fine. Have insisted on a nice room at the reception venue so LO and I can just slip off for a rest/early night when we need to.

Think that maybe this is more appropriate.

That one is lovely

Spidermama · 14/01/2009 22:08

Why don;t any of the models have bumps fgs? How are your supposed to know what it'll really look like?
Also it sends out the message that women can't possibly look good with a bump which I strongly refute.

leakyR · 14/01/2009 22:09

Think this is another contender.

Should really wait a while and see if I can find something in Spring/Summer collections.I just know I won't have the time or inclination to look once baby arrives.

leakyR · 14/01/2009 22:12

I know what you mean SM. I actually feel more confident about how I look with a bump than without.

Unfortunately I'll probably just look like a woman with a big tummy not a bump at the wedding.

Option 2 is very nice.

samsonara · 14/01/2009 22:57

Both are nice, the black one is only cape like when you are feeding, as in it lifts up and you feed discretely, then you flip the fabric back and it's like front frills , see video.

CeceliaAhern · 14/01/2009 23:07

2nd is my fave

thumbwitch · 14/01/2009 23:09

1st one - too Morticia Addams.
2nd one - vast improvement on 1st one but a wee bit drab.

MrsSeanBean · 14/01/2009 23:10

Leaky - the 2nd dress looks nice.

HolyGuacamole · 14/01/2009 23:29

Don't like the big flappy bit on the 1st black one. 2nd one is lovely

pooter · 15/01/2009 11:53

I love that one called 'collette'. Another reason to have another baby!

chancelloroftheexCHEQUERS · 15/01/2009 11:55

Love two and three.

I think three would be more forgiving tummy-wise.

mazzystartled · 15/01/2009 12:00

steer clear of jersey, unless you can find some silk jersey, because it will cling to a flabby tummy [nearly inevitable 4 w post partum] - its fine on a good firm preg bump, but frumpy on wobbly flesh.

Maggieb52 · 20/01/2009 00:14

I have this Gercian one in all available colours. It is so forgiving. I am a 12-14 and 5'4" and Irish and find it fab to dress up or down. I am wearing it in the winter with jeans and a big belt and of course wrap cardi and wore it in August just with birkenstocks or dressy shoes!! I have the most horrible wobbly post baby belly sadly with a bit of an overhang and it seems to fit so nicely and flatters in all the right places. Hope that helps

KristinaM · 20/01/2009 00:22

oh draped bit on tummy looks very flattering

agree about lycra on flabby bits

there is no rule that you HAVE to wear a dress to a wedding. what about seperates? IMO easier to feed in
