As you were.

its not to hide dark circles
its not a concealer
its a highlighter - for highlighting cheekbones, browbones, etc

as you were

morningpaper · 13/01/2009 10:32

shit, I have been using it to ice my cupcakes

nailpolish · 13/01/2009 10:33

LOL!

sagacious · 13/01/2009 10:33

I've been attempting to use it as glue for my scrap booking.

Darn

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 13/01/2009 10:35

Roffle at MP.

T'is indeed to hide dark circles and does a v v good job at it too.

I had a demo of it in Demenhams once, so I know.

traceybath · 13/01/2009 10:38

its for highlighting and concealing dark shadows, eg, under eyes around the nose.

but use sparingly or you look like a panda bear in reverse especially in photos.

TsarChasm · 13/01/2009 10:38

Eh? I thought it was supposed to be used on dark under eye circles too to conceal or highlight them....or whatever.

bundle · 13/01/2009 10:40

tis a marketing tool, surely?

TonyAlmeida · 13/01/2009 10:48

It is.

Do not use it to HIGLIGHT spots.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 13/01/2009 10:48

is it really that good? my dark circles are threatening to take over my face. and with another on the way i'm going to look like DEATH. maybe that's what i need.

TonyAlmeida · 13/01/2009 10:48

You use it as a brightener to illuminate dark areas thus making them less dark.

traceybath · 13/01/2009 10:49

i don't think its that good really and it goes off quite quickly and smells funny.

think laura mercier does a better under eye concealer called secret camouflage that is very good for dark under eye circles.

stinkymonkey · 13/01/2009 10:50

I once had make up professionally applied for a photo shoot. The make up artist gave the Touche Eclat about 20 clicks and basically coloured my whole face in with it. Mortified.

TonyAlmeida · 13/01/2009 10:50

No I didnt get on with it, but then I do wear the same clothes for 24 hours.

yelpol · 13/01/2009 10:50

nailpolish is right - it is a highlighter. when it was brought out, people mistakenly used it as a concealer, etc and liked it (mistakenly I add, see traceybath's panda comment) so some very clever marketing people marketed it as such. you can put anything (of the right colour) over dark circles and it will hide them - but only looking face on that is. but the trick is what it looks like from different angles - and it looks terrible as a concealer - makes you look grey - it is wonderful as a highlighter - it's original intention. this i got first hand from a celeb makeup artist!
as you were...

bigTillyMint · 13/01/2009 10:50

It does smell funny - I thought it was jsut me!

MrsMattie · 13/01/2009 10:51

It is good for covering small blemishes if you're fair skinned, though.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 13/01/2009 11:03

oohkaaaay...
is there a good undereye concealer that DOESN'T cost upwards of £20??

TonyAlmeida · 13/01/2009 11:03

Yes. Aldi.

samsonara · 13/01/2009 11:05

I have heard great things about it but also read that you should not use it if you are going to be photographed as its is very relective and you might end up with white bags under your eyes and sparkly spots if you are covering up blemishes.

nailpolish · 13/01/2009 11:37

stinkymonkey
she should go back to beauty school

KingCanuteIAm · 13/01/2009 11:39

Ok, can you tell me how I should use it then? I bought it for dark circles but found it was rubbish for that so it now sits as an expensive waste of space in my make-up cabinet. I would love to know how and where to use it as a highlighter though!

nailpolish · 13/01/2009 11:42

put a bit under your eyebrows
at the outer corner of your eye
in the cupids bow of your lip

i actualy think its a waste of money, but there you go

i use chanel blance instead, and mix it with my vitalumiere for concealing/highlighting
its much more adaptable

nailpolish · 13/01/2009 11:42

blanc not blance

used2bthin · 13/01/2009 13:49

Oh no I was all decided on this after my thread a week or so ago. But what should we use to hide dark circles then? I don't think I've got anywhere near by that sells Laura Mercier and wanted to use my debenhams oucers really.
