My DD had a similar bag in year 8. It didnt last the whole year but she did get all her books in it.

dietstartstomorrow · 10/01/2009 19:39

It's not the most practical bag, but probably one I would choose if I were 11!

SlartyBartFast · 10/01/2009 19:41

am i going to feel guilty here,

Seems ok to me.
Surely even a ruck sack type ting, or messenger bag would be about £15?
Bet she will feel really grown up with it

SlartyBartFast · 10/01/2009 19:43

sigh

school will say it's not a school bag, it's a handbag & you'll end up buying rucksack or messenger anyway

SlartyBartFast · 10/01/2009 19:45

thanks, she has a ruck which my mum bought her back in september but now wants one like the link

what is a messenger?

OP posts:
blametheparents · 10/01/2009 19:48

A messenger bag is like a satchel

blametheparents · 10/01/2009 19:50

This sort of shape. Though obv not Camp Rock for a Yr 7 girl.

RumMum · 10/01/2009 21:01

My DD had from Argos

heres a plain one

The girls at my school mostly have bags like this. But they're not very practical - you can't get A4 files into them, and they don't hold very much.

ds1 has the get set bag from this company, because I am paranoid about backs, spines and posture. They are very expensive, but it seems to be wearing very well. It's spacious and has plenty of pockets and so on.

At my school the girls who do have backpacks wear them with the straps really long, so they hang down by their bums, which is very bad for their backs. Messenger bags would be better than badly worn backpacks.

dd2 (yr 7 agd 12) has this

janeite · 11/01/2009 18:32

It's not big enough for a school bag.

Messenger bags are practical: many teenagers (including my dd1) have a "thing" against back packs.

SlartyBartFast · 11/01/2009 19:42

my dd has a "thing" against ruck sacks.

ds used to wear his with logn straps

Curved ends mean it wont take A4 folders and books get bent. Steer her towards something more oblongy!

SlartyBartFast · 11/01/2009 21:24

thanks

Roxy have some nice backpacks reduced in the sale.

Key point for dd is that NO ONE else has the same bag

On the days she needs next to nothing she takes something very impractical and trendy, but as she does loads of sport, she has found the good old Roxy backpack which she has had for 3 years invaluable.

nappyaddict · 28/02/2009 21:17

I had something like this

this is nice too

nappyaddict · 28/02/2009 21:24

i had something like this or this when i was in about year 10.
