Help - hair advice needed!

Every winter I get a really dry scalp, from the central heating and cold weather, and as usual my shoulders look like it has been snowing from the dry skin flaking off ...

I usually wash my hair every other day with Aussie Mega shampoo and use their leave-in conditioner, but I am thinking that I need to change products for something more moisturising? Or will that dry my skin out further?? My hairdresser said to put warm olive oil on it but with a 12 week-old baby frankly I haven't got time to do that sort of thing at the moment...

Any suggestions gratefully received! x

Tgel is good

Doesn't half stink but it will sort your scalp out (get some nice smelling conditioner though)

Cheers for the suggestions (and the bump PuzzleRocks), ladies! I remember trying TGel years ago and you're right - it stank!

I agree about Tgel, but if you do one Tgel wash and then another with your normal shampoo and conditioner the smell goes.

most/alot of high street shampoos and soaps (including baby ranges) contain a chemical called Sodium Lauryl Sulphate or sls for short - it is a really harsh chemical used to clean industrial oils and greases

if you look carefully at ingredients you can find products without. Boots do a 'naked beauty' range which doesn't contain it. I'd use a SLS free shampoo and see if that helps by not striping and drying out your scalp.

They usually brag they are sls free on the front

Top tip Furball, perhaps I should use my daughter's baby shampoo!

Don't they say to give your hair a break from your usual shampoo and conditioner and use something else for a bit to get the hair responding well again, to do with built up of products I think. I would probably just not use the leave in conditioner as it doesn't get absorbed by the hair, just coats it I think, I'm not sure just guessing, and maybe the cold weather and moisure loss from indoor heating makes the residue more brittle on the hair surface and it breaks off?

I get exactly the same in winter - I find swapping shampoos regularly helps. Have a few different brands on the go!

ive been using a moisturing deep conditioning treatment like a normal conditioner (time limited too) along with a dry hair shampoo everybody comments on my glossy hair and my scalp feels so much better too.

SLS in Johnson's! Darn...oh well, gonna get me to Lush, reckon this is a good excuse to treat myself

hate to say this - but check the ingredients, some lush products contain it too!

Boots have a range that is called naked.

Good price as well, they also do soaps and conditioners in that range
