What would you think if a friend sent you photos and had digitally airbrushed you to look better?

2 friends have done this to me now.

They have included photos in an email and proudly said 'I've airbrushed you to look better' or 'I've evened you out' I'm not the flippin elephant man!

It puts my trunk nose ever so slightly out of joint . What would you think?

I can understand why you're annoyed, it seems a little rude. But on the flipside, my friends love putting disgusting (drunk?) etc pics of me up on facebook. Would prefer they retouched them first

plantsitter · 07/01/2009 19:25

It is rude. wouldn't be so bad if she hadn't said and you just thought you looked flawless in real life (though if they're anything like puppy's link ones you may have suspected a little bit..)

mamalovesmojitos · 07/01/2009 19:41

omfg that website is horrible. what is wrong with people? their beautiful, warm, living children look like plastic dolls.

op, i would probably be a bit upset if someone altered a photo of me. it's kind of weird.

OMG those photos are an abuse of photo shop.

My DH is a photographer and to be fair he retouches almost all photos he takes, evening out the skin tone etc. can make a huge difference. I wouldn't be offended at all (as long as it wasn't just you she retouched!). But I have emailed him that link, he is going to be horried. Even with his photoshop happy attitude he doesn't believe children need retouching hardly at all (he can take out a snotty nose, and he highlights the eyes but MUCH better than that website). How awful that people actually pay for that!

Anyway, back to the point, I would be too offended, as long as they've done a good job.

Bumper, I can't help thinking though that I can't be quite perfect enough in their (or my ) eyes, so they feel they are doing me a favour by making me look 'better'. Love me, love my warts.

Photoshop is the devils work.

It's sad you feel that wayMrsM, but my point was I really wouldn't read too much into it. Some people, like my DH, just require perfection from their photos. Just remember 'it's not about you, it's about them'
