I am totally astylic - I work outdoors most of the time so obviously I need to wrap up well but I don't think that is any excuse for the rut I am in

my winter work wardrobe consists either of jods or jeans and about 3,000 tops culminating in either a large fleece or a barbour with high brown leather boots (good for riding in but also soooo warm and dry)

I haven't had a hair cut for well over a year and don't really wash it very often and never style it - it dries into quite nice loose curls and is just past shoulder length, but is v dry and frizzy and the ends are all bleached (not chemically, happened over summer), washing it now and then, dye and some layers might help?

I'm 38 and a v podgy size 12, at my pre-christmas weight a size 12 is just a tad too big while a size 10 a bit of a squeeze

any ideas for how I can make myself look a bit smarter without compromising the need to be warm, mud/rain/wind proof?

i am curly too and have given up hairderssers, they don't make it look any better than i can do myself. have proper sharp scissors and chop ends every few months so it doesn't look ratty.

waitrose umi intensive conditioner v good for dry curls, doesn't weigh down.

daniel field hair dye, see earlier style and beauty thread today.

boots sound good, are you horsey or gardeny?

how about some lipstick?

mysterymoniker · 05/01/2009 16:03

horsey

boots are, um dublin I think? tall ones

yes I did wonder if a bit of make up would help! I sort of want a medal just for remembering to put moisturiser on today

off in search of other thread

the most importnat thing you can do is use sunscreen

and when you next buy outerwear buy women-specific cut stuff not mens' or unisex

get good thermals so you wear less bulk (the Uniqlo HeatTech stuff is good and actually quite attractive)

and I bet you are wearing the wrong size bra - sort it ahhht

fishie · 05/01/2009 21:37

yyyy heattech i love it. also it is long in arms as am i so it really does keep me warm. bugger, it has gone from website. i will go and have a look in shop if anyone would like me to, is fairly near work.

get tinted lip balm, elizabeth arden is £10 but really good.

Keep boots, riding boots are very now.
