SpandexIsMyEnemy · 04/01/2009 16:36

march beginning of so have a bit of time yet - but I like to be organised, know roughly how much I need to save & also how much weight to loose! lol.

budget ideally no more than £50. as i'll need shoes & a bag as well. unless it's a black dress.

i'm a 14 12 to be!

I'm watching this closely. Going to a very good friends wedding at the end of Feb and I don't have a clue what to wear.

£50 would be a great budget but would go slightly higher for dream dress.

I'm a fat curvy 14/16. Although have started new year diet with meaning!

pippo · 04/01/2009 16:52

I'm short too and find that I have to get dress's from a petite section as otherwise the cleavage is too low, straps won't sit right etc. If this applies to you too, you could try monsoon (although prob more that £50) wallis and principles for petite section, there are good sales on at the mo so you might be able to get a bargain. Good luck.

brimfull · 04/01/2009 16:54

SpandexIsMyEnemy · 04/01/2009 16:57

is black the done thing for a wedding?

SpandexIsMyEnemy · 04/01/2009 17:02

well that's waht i'm wondering tbh.

althou i'm with DP who's best man, tbh I want to blend into the back ground - I was upstaged on my wedding day to a degree but a certain 'guest' so I don't want anything to stand out etc iycwim.

I don't think I could do black for a wedding, lovely dress though. The bridesmaid is wearing red so thats out for me too.

SpandexIsMyEnemy · 04/01/2009 17:03

no not at all hijack away.

as I say not sure myself if it's the done thing.

think our bridesmaids are in red as well.

the lack dress debate

pippo · 04/01/2009 17:05

I think that the black thing depends on what you think or know the brides views to be, I recently went to a wedding where I was quite surprised to see so many female guests wearing black.I personally think that it flatters a bride wearing white/ivory, but in saying that I still think that some people might be offended.
Ps I think you would need good upper arms to wear that dress

SpandexIsMyEnemy · 04/01/2009 17:15

lol. ah that counts me out then mine are like tree truncks! lol.

must quiz the bride this w.e when she's having a trial of her hair being done in the house.

OP posts:
slightlycrumpled · 04/01/2009 17:17

My upper arms are not the best part of my body! Mind you I'm not sure what is. I wish I could just send my head to the wedding! I think my face is okay, it's just the rest of me.

pippo · 04/01/2009 17:23

I only know this because I tried that dress on myself and it was very disappointing to say the least!!!
Marks and Spencers look like they have some new stock in

pippo · 04/01/2009 17:31

What about this?

SpandexIsMyEnemy · 04/01/2009 17:43

that's nice, but is that really dressy enough?

OP posts:
SpandexIsMyEnemy · 04/01/2009 17:48

this with a shawl?

OP posts:
pippo · 04/01/2009 18:12

Blimey that's a bargain.
You are probably better to decide what's dressy enough for you, I'm actually rubbish at this , but realted to your post as a short person who has recently spend many hours trying to find something that would fit, looked half ok and didn't break the bank!!
Good Luck!

SpandexIsMyEnemy · 04/01/2009 18:16

lol. oh no carry on looking! lol. what did u go for in the end. (can u tell i'm bored tonight & putting off the study/ironing )

Coast - expensive but maybe in the sales? I wore (borrowed) a dress from a friend from there for my best friend's wedding and had no end of compliments about it. Did i fess up that it wasn't mine? I think i did after several glasses of champagne!

pippo · 04/01/2009 18:29

ha, I borrowed a dress in the end, if only had thought of it before all traipsing round!
