Where can i get clothes for my rather large DH?

After a couple of years of gentle nagging ive finally got DH to agree to buy some clothes - he is 32 and still wearing stuff his mum bought him when he was 16. Now the problem is that he is size 44inch waist and short leg, xxl top. He gets really miserable if i make him go into high st shops as there is very very little that will fit him. So does anyone know of anywhere online that sells decent stuff? He is currently living in a threadbare pair of cords which are going to disintegrate any second, and a pair of jogging bottoms from matalan.

And yes, we are doing a combined new years resolution of losing weight - but i need him clothed until that time arises

I thought M&S went that big on the waist? You could look at that online?

here you go!

Juat had a quick look, and it looks as though Lands End does a 44 in waist, and many different lengths with that (I think basically it's custom hemming at no extra cost). Might be worth a look? Sale on atm too.

Tesco go up to a 44 waist and have lots of different styles un

now off to check out lands end - thankyou!

My brother is massive (width and height) and gets stuff here

Amandoh · 02/01/2009 16:02

He sounds very similar in shape to my DP. He's also a 44 waist and at only 5'8" tall short legged. The only high street shop store that caters well to large men is M&S. Their cheapest jeans are just £9.50 and go up to a 44waist and come in a 29leg.

Cords are just £15.00. So if he wants to replace the threadbare pair there's a choice of colours.

The XXL tops fit my DP well and these are just £9.50.

smurfgirl · 02/01/2009 16:07

My DH is an xl-xxl top and I buy stuff for him in Burtons, Asda, Sainsburys and Tesco.

He is over 6 foot and has found that Matalan stuff fits him width wise but is far too short so it might be worth looking there for him?

I think its hard for men really, my DH is not that big but in the biggest sizes for men because he is broadly built.

Zebraa · 02/01/2009 16:22

M&S Big and Tall section is brilliant. My DP is 6ft 5 and although he's not overweight, his height makes it really difficult to get clothes long enough and M&S B&T range really helps!

Hogiabach · 02/01/2009 20:38

I had the same problem, but DH has now had a mid life crisis and has started running and cycling, I'm so relieved. I have loads of stuff some BNWT - I bought DH a lovely pair of Paper Denim and Cloth Designer Jeans that he never wore I'll check the size but think 44" waist- 31 leg. I'll check and If you're interested I'll happily sell them

cmotdibbler · 02/01/2009 20:42

Cotton Traders are good for the bigger man and v reasonable and TMLewin fab for formal shirts.

M&S def best online for choice of sizes, but be aware that XXL in one line isn't the same at all as XXL in another - some come up really small

BoccaDellaVerita · 03/01/2009 14:48

My DH is also somewhat (cough) portly and has bought a lot in the past from M&S. He buys his work shirts from Lewin's, too. I just bought him a lovely, quite trendy shirt (XXXL) from Manta Ray at Debenhams and he has started buying trousers from Peter Christian. DH, though, is a lot older than your DH, who might find their stuff a bit dowdy.

Didn't notice that that last post was from Cmot. Hi, Cmot.

lucykate · 03/01/2009 14:53

my dh is a large bloke, xxl on top, he fits into fat face, white stuff shirts etc

Ivykaty44 · 03/01/2009 14:53

Be careful with Landsend - a meduim waist has just had to be sent back as it was a 32 waist not really very large for meduim?

They were ment to fit a 38 waist...

Good for length though as their trousers and jeans come up for a 36 inside leg which is great.
