I saw some in the women's dept at M&S and they weren't all that expensive either - maybe a large size would do it?

Yes in the t-shirt dept of M&S, they have blue and white stripy ones. About £6 IIRC.

They are slash neck IIRC so your DH won't have chest rug on display and look silly in a ladies top
