Can anyone recommend a good home hair colouring kit for a newbie to DIY dye-ing?

that's about it really - going very grey, spent years getting hair highlighted (mixed blondey-light brown) but can no longer afford either the money or the time. but I can't keep letting it go (have not gotten new highlights in over a year) - I look way older than I am. Am in need of a recommendation of very good home hair colouring kit (either incl. highlights or just all one colour), for dark blonde/lt brown hair. And any other relevant tips would be useful of course. thanks in advance!

I'm interested in this too - I've got dark brown hair which is getting greyer and greyer. I have been pulling the grey ones out but can't continue or will go bald. Have heard Daniel Field is good - has anyone tried these products?

I did mine for the first time about 4 weeks ago. Can't remember what kit it was, just went for one off the shelf at the chemist. I went for a shade as close to my own as I could match.

My mum actually did it for me (she has done her own for years) and used a toothbrush to brush it into the roots - so that's the only tip I have.

Garnier Nutrisse (off the shelf at the supermarket) is good. The one that Davina McCall advertises.

Very easy to apply and doesn't drip everywhere.

My dd13 applies it for me then just rinse out after half an hour.

Covers grey really well. I use the "toffee" colour, is a sort of shiny, nutty brown.

wanted to advise you to go lighter than the colour you are not darker, blends nicely, keeps it more natural. another vote here for Nutrisse

I use nice 'n' easy - never had any problems with it either.

casting, i'm new to diy-ing too but no time to sit in a salon anymore, it's a semi, super glossy, hair looks extra thick and lush, very easy to use and gentle on hair

I use Excell 10, (think it's L'oreal). You don't have to leave it on long and it covers grey.
