Babyliss 230 steam staighteners. Any good?

I have incredibly stubborn hair. It looks straight, but likes to flick out. It is fine, but very very thick (meaning there is a lot of it). Sort of shoulder length and flicky nightmare.

It has always responded to steam curling tongs better than normal ones.

So what does anyone think of this one?

not seen the steam ones, link?

I have the babyliss 230 ceramic ones and they are really good (and cheap)

linky linky

this one?
i preferred my ghd's, but they do the same job

harleyd · 20/12/2008 20:01

the temperature button on the side pisses me off, its too easy to accidentally turn off

SleighGirl · 20/12/2008 20:02

how about you buy & review them for us

How much?

fizzbuzz · 20/12/2008 20:03

Yes, that's the one. GHD's don't have steam do they?

Do they have an automatic switch off? Ds nicks mine, and I live in fear he will forget to unplug them

They seem to vary from £50.00 to £100.00.

Is some hair impossible to staighten? I never see anyone else with these nasty flicky bits, and my hair is quite straight.

I would love to buy and review them all. Alas, Christmas shopping has sucked up my last remaining coffers atm

no, the ghd's dont have steam
ive used the steam on the babyliss ones, but tbh havent really noticed much of a difference with it
im not sure about an automatic switch off, but will plug them in now and see

My hair has a slight kink and flicks at the end. Worst of all it flicks on my fringe UPWARDS - it's a nightmare!!!! Need to have a fringe because like you I have lots and lots of hair and it would just hang in my face without a fringe.

fizzbuzz · 20/12/2008 20:11

Why were the GHD's better. It is the claim that it lasts 2 times longer, that attracts me.

My hair starts flickng up before I've left the house. It has always had to have the hottest temperature on anything to work properly, and steam tends to improve this more

Do your control the flicky business then Sleighgirl?

harleyd · 20/12/2008 20:15

the ghd's were lighter and easier to hold
these are quite bulky. they do do a good job though, i have crazy mad hair and tried loads of different cheaper straightners before i got my ghd's. when my ghd's died on me, someone told me the babyliss ones were just as good, and were cheaper
i am happy with them, but i know when they die i will get ghd's again

SleighGirl · 20/12/2008 20:20

babyliss ceramic straighteners they're about £15 on ebay these days. I also straighten mine just to calm it down and make it less full IYSWIM.

My fringe even challenges my hairdresser with her GHD's and urgh when it rains it all flicks back up. Think it's got flickier recently, perhaps a change in hormones?

harleyd · 20/12/2008 20:20

they havent switched off yet, but i dont know how long it would take??

fizzbuzz · 21/12/2008 10:51

Have they switched off yet?
