Fringe or not?

I've always had a bit of a side fringe but I'm considering an full fringe. I've got really straight hair though so will it work?

Also, what style fringe will suit me? I'm 26, have really straight hair and am slim - well, 6 months pregnant but still...

Hard to say without seeing your face and body shape. Fringes are in - loads of them in the hairdressers mags!

Fringes are a pain in the bum
speaking as someone who is so sick of hers as always in my eyes so growing it out. Only go for it IF you are either confident enough to trim it back yourself every couple of weeks or are willing to go to the hairdressers very frequently. I have mine cut every 4-6 weeks and (after a hackingly bad attempt at DIY fringe chopping and over enthusiastic DH neatening up job) will never ever tackle the mid-cut over long fringe again..
Saying that, I think a fringe is a great way to update your style and loads of people look lovely with them

I have recently had a heavy fringe cut in and love it, try to go to a hairdressers who do free fringe trims between cuts (Toni and Guy do them).

i did it myself once and it was a nightmare too wonky, too short!

I have fine straight hair, and I love having a fringe. I get it cut shorter in the middle, graduating to longer at the sides so I can wear it straight or swept across - bit like this though my hair's shorter.

I like fringes. I've got a DIY one at the mo . IMO they work best with straight hair (otherwise you spend your life trying to smooth down frizzy bits) so go for it. If you start out long you can always brush it to one side if you change your mind.

RamblingRosa · 17/12/2008 12:51

PS. Never let the hairdresser cut it in while wet as it always springs up and ends up shorter when it's dry.

I've had my fringe for about 40 years and counting now.... they are marvellous things. Hide all your wrinkles when you get older too.

I chop it sometimes myself or go to hairdressers, most will do a freebie on a fringe.

Mine is mostly straight, occasionally chopped into a bit!

They never really go out of fashion either...

I really want to go for it but I can't decide. Ive got an appointment of Saturday but I need to find a really good fringe that will suit because I'm naf at explaining!

I have the kate moss fringe
like this and it is longer at the sides than in middle - very easy to manage, is very versatile and is very sexy too!

I would say go for it, if you have a longer one like mine, it'll be grown out to a side fringe within about a month anyway!

Zebraa · 21/12/2008 20:45

I bloody chickened out. I'll tell you why, my hairdresser said because I'm 6 months pregnant, my face has "filled" out and it wouldn't suit me!!

Saying that, I've just realised how much younger they make women look - getting one cut in tomorrow!
