White Company sizes anyone?

My husband was supposed to be getting me a lovely top from The White Company for Christmas. However, he's left it so late to sort it out that they are out of stock aprt from size small and extra small. I'm usually a size 12. Just wondering whether I could get away with a size small! Does anyone know how generous (or not) the White Company sizes are on womens clothes? Can't do links but the top is the fine knit smocked sweater. TIA.

I think that they are quite small. I am a size 10 and wear their size small.

No harm in ordering it and returning after Xmas?

I have even been ringing round their stores to see if anyone has one in a bigger size but no luck. Maybe I'll go mad and order the small. Why can't men just get organised and not leave everything to the last minute?!

I have a jersey dress from there in a M - I am a good bf'ing size 12-14 up top and it fits me fine, L was just too big. I reckon you might be OK with a S. Can always return. Men aye.

I'd say they are small- I can get into an 8 in Boden and Next and Kew, but in White Stuff I take a 10.

sorry- was talking White Stuff!!! which top is it as I have tried a few on in the stores?

I am an 8-10 and get an XS so you might be ok with small- which top is it?

again-is it the sweater in either navy or grey?

I have it in grey and a sz xs fits me- I measure 34Bbra and take an 8-10.

It's the fine knit smocked sweater in navy. I've ordered a small and have my fingers crossed that I can squeeze into it! I really liked it because it has full length sleeves unlike the boden ones. Just typical of DH to leave everything to the last minute!

I find they come up large - I am an XS but am usually an 8 in tops (I did originally order the S, but when this arrived it was too big)

Thanks for everyone who gave me advice. The top arrived today and it fits!! It's really lovely too - I really wouldn't have chanced a size small without your advice so a big thank you!!
