Help! Which dress should I buy/keep?

It's my 40th birthday next week and DH and I are going to Gordon Ramsay at Claridges for dinner (courtesy of a very nice wedding present from DH's best man). I had absolutely nothing to wear, so I have bought these two dresses. They arrived today, they both fit (I have also bought my first pair of Spanx , so I can hide any bulges) and look good (relatively!) but I can't decide which one to keep. One is almost floor length and I think it might be a bit too dressy, but it is the one I prefer.

I think as Buda says, the second one is perfect for the dinner, although the vila one is absolutely gorgeous, and floaty and lovely , the other one does look good too.....

I like them both but I think you will get more wear out of the second one
