I've decided I want to have my hair cut short (its in a shortish flicky bob thing at the moment) and I'm looking for ideas. I'm 39 with a squarish face - I don't colour my hair (I like my blond hi-lights - ok grey!)and spend very little time on my hair apart from washing it every day and blasting it with the hair dryer. My hair is very fine but there is a lot of it. I'm just so bored with my hair at the moment but have no idea what to ask for - thanks for any ideas!!

Oooh I'd be careful, have you had it short before?

hmmm, is it quite straight?

I am thinking natasha gregson wagner.

Hango on will google. cool but easy, and not 'too young' and not ageing.

I always had long hair when I was younger. Had my hair cut short by a great hairdresser on a trip to New Zealand - everyone - even people I didn't know - raved about it. However, on returning to the UK I found it impossible - and quite traumatic! - to get a good hairdresser to replicate the cut so I was never happy with it and went back to a longer style. I also found short hair more of a hassle - so many trips to the hairdresser and I also felt a bit exposed. I think, obviously it depends upon the shape of your face. Could you try some wigs on to get an idea of what you will look like?

Thanks for the suggestion - I've had it short before (I tend to go in 7/8 yr cycles of short then grow it to shoulder length and then short). I've had crops before but I think they are a bit severe for me now (in my youth I used to have the back shaved - to go with my dungerees and doc martins!!) so I want low maintenance/soft and relatively femanine. Thanks everyone.

you could try up loading your photo on a make over website-and then try different styles. I think it's called Daily Make over- it's not brill, but might give you a better idea.
