Has Ghost gone under or is their website just broken?

I know that they were having some trouble rolling over their credit or something about a month ago, and they've been selling off stock at very low prices. And now their website has been down all day.

Goodness, I hope not - I ordered a dress for Christmas and a new year wedding from them last weekend. Haven't heard anything in the media. Have you?

No, I did a search of the BBC and the Financial Times and couldn't find anything, so I though MN would know. Perhaps it's just a server problem or some other techy thing.

Usually when companies go under they leave the website up for a while with a notice that they are not longer trading, so I suppose this is more likely to be a technical thing.

I meant "No, I haven't heard anything in the media" not "No, they haven't gone under". Time for my bed I think.

Fingers crossed then. I love Ghost's clothes and this is the first time (thanks to the sale ) that I've felt able to afford any!

Could be the server couldn't handle all of us trying to bag bargains. Hope they're ok. The Gershwin dress was lovely! . I ordered the Butterfly dress for a wedding.

I've just read that they went into administration in October, but were bought up by another company. Guess that doesn't really answer the question, though my experience (when buying tickets for my daughter for a music festival this summer) is that in these situations, they put a message on the website announcing that they can't supply the goods and referring us to our credit card company for a refund.

My card company will be SO happy if they have to refund me twice in one year ..

I htink they had icelandic backers but have now been bought by someone else.

Oooh I'm waiting on a refund on a return

It's back up again and looking a bit different, so hopefully they were just ironing the kinks out of the new website or some other minor issue. Phew.

Bran, I'm still getting the page about essential maintenance. Can you link to the new site?

I went to www.ghost.co.uk/ and I got a website (when I first posted I was just getting a standard "can't find this page" message. But I posted back here without clicking on the online shop button, now that I have I can see that it's still not online. But I do think it's more likely to just be that they are still setting up a new online shopping page than that they are not trading anymore, mostly because the whole website has been re-designed and companies don't usually bother doing that if they're going under.

Has anyone received an order lately? They had an extra 20% off recently, plus I made an order a week before, and haven't had a sniff of either. I think I'll just call them to cancel, since the clothes were for Xmas parties and clearly won't come in time .... bah, humbug ...

The website says they're performing vital site maintenance on the online store.

I have a similar problem with www.thehedgepig.co.uk and now all their non-shopping pages (including terms and conditions, contact etc) have disappeared! I hope they're not going to do a runner with the money

I placed an order about 2 weeks ago and it arrived last Friday.

You could try phoning one of their shops and see if they can tell you anything.

They're still around - I got my package last week - sadly two of the dresses looked awful on me, so I've just returned them. Have to say I would have appreciated not having to pay return postage!
