Do those gym/swim shampoos actually work?

I am swimming a lot at the moment, and starting to gym it. My hair and skin is battered though, my hair is dry and I smell like chlorine a lot even though i shower straight after swimming.
My hair gets wet in the pool btw, I cannot swim without putting my head in the water and I am not sure about braving swimming caps!!

Does the special shampoo work or should I just invest in moisturing shampoo and condioner?

no the special shampoo does work, it counter acts the greeness of the chlorine, it also strips the hair of any chlorine build up so its worth investing!

I use the botts own and it's fab. Their's also a protection spray you can spray on before you go swimming.

My hair is naturally dark brown, is that ok? I had a natural semi-permanant glossing put on in early October but that was basically my hair colour made shinier so I think its washed out now. I have some old blonde highlights at the tips but the tips are grim anyway because my hair is so long so not too worried about them being manky because they will be chopped off in Jan.

Do you mean the chlorine will strip my hair or the shampoo?

I know I should keep my hair dry really but I struggle to swim with my head out of the water. I am only doing 3-4 hours a week so I hope I don't totally trash my hair!
