grey roots (more than half an inch)
saggy clothes
dirty shoes
zits

TackyChristmasLights · 04/12/2008 09:26

no make up
grey undies
more than 3 months since a hair cut?

don't let yourself go - you are so important!!!

Fillyjonk · 04/12/2008 09:32

lol

you will have your own standards

"letting yourself go" could actually just be "rejigging your priorities". And could be quite sensible really.

Some people need the confidence boost of make up, flattering clothes, dyed hair etc. Others can manage without it

LOL!!!

I saw a photo of an old friend of mine on Facebook and thought she looked a bit old (I was secretly pleased because she was always sooo pretty!)! Then I passed a mirror and realised....Oops, I'm not exactly looking my best either!!

I buy my dh those big packs of beer every time I do a shop! Maybe I am just supplying him with his "beer goggles" so he wont notice!

extremelychocolateymilkroll · 04/12/2008 16:39

omg - have you been speaking to my mother? I've lost count of the number of times my mother has said that to me - not losing post baby weight, not dyeing newly greying hair. Deep down I know she's right - and it annoys the hell out of me - but I just end up reaching for another slice of chocolate cake. I'm also not buying new clothes because I don't want to admit that I have gone up a size (or two) so just keep wearing 3 or 4 outfits which always used to be loose on me.

(Can be festive?) I have let myself go I know it, it has only dawned on me the last week or so. Facebook has done the opposite - I have seen pictures of people from school also with children looking fab and having a great time..
My signs:
*Significant weight gain
*2 hair cuts per year normally when someone insists on paying for me to have my hair done
*People say 'oh you look so different' when I have make up on
*Skin tired and dull looking with spots
*On looking at a photo of me from a couple of years ago work friends that did not know me struggle to believe it's me and say how pretty I look
*My clothes are seriously shabby so when I have new clothes they seem to take on the shabbiness of exsisting wardrobe
*I am aware of fashion but I have a ability to make fashionable items look frumpy

I am awful at the moment. I would love to change but never seem to..

I have just seen this picture which has made me feel a little better (I think the 'lady' on the left may have let herself go...)

balismum · 04/12/2008 18:09

asdmumandteacher · 04/12/2008 18:10

Her hair is better than mine tho but i am not quite that big (yet)

DrNortherner · 04/12/2008 18:11

Roots
No hair cut/style
no make up
'leisure wear' is wardrobe staple
comfy shoes every day
bad/chipped nails

TheProvincialLady · 04/12/2008 18:13

Do you have the cash to sort it out? It could be a weekend project - haircut, new skin products and better diet/more water (if relevant), more fresh air, go shopping for a more rational wardobe etc.

If you are strapped for cash you could certainly still sort your skin out and make the effort to wash/blow dry your hair regularly and do nails etc.

Oh and go through your wardrobe and mend/throw out anything that is really shabby. You are bound to have some wearable things in there that have got pushed to the back and become fashionable again (or is that just me?!)
