it has got to the point where they is always one visible. I was doing a quick spot chekc once a week and until recently that was keeping it at bay.

I don't think anybody else has noticed, but I am definitely 'going grey' now. I saidto my hairdresser that i was going grey prematurely and he chuckled. I am too old to go grey prematurely.

I heard a trichologist discussing this when Jennifer Lopez was seen with grey hair. He said that it was not at all unusual for caucasians to go grey in their 30s. I also think it depends on the colour of your hair. It seems that people with dark hair go grey earlier - definitely the case with my family. I had my first grey hairs in my early 30s and managed quite well for a few years by cutting them out - luckily my hair was quite thick. Now I'm quite grey on my right temple and it's not feasible to keep cutting them out or I'd be bald. Going to have to start dyeing - was thinking of starting with Daniel Field products as they don't have any nasty chemicals. Has anyone tried them?

btw I read the title as "sporting grey hairs" - made it sound quite cool

girlandboy · 03/12/2008 22:39

I use the semi-permanent dyes. The ones that last for about 20 washes.

I use one called Movida. It works well enough, so long as I rub it in hard.

pick a number between 15 and 50 - that will be right.
My sister got her first one at 32, my bro had them in his early 20s, I found my first one last year.

LilRedWG · 03/12/2008 22:41

I was 32 - I blame DD (she was born a few months earlier.

christmaseve · 03/12/2008 22:43

Semi perms don't work on mine. The silver still shows through! I'm going to try the permenant tomorrow. If its a disaster I will run back to the £80 a time hairdressers.

Am 40 and grey hairs are just becoming noticable. Also I have one grey hair in my eyelashes (would be too painful to pluck out like the ones on my head but is very annoying)

MincePirate · 03/12/2008 22:44

have no idea what the norm is.

i was 16

MincePirate · 03/12/2008 22:47

foofi, me too--one grey/white eyelash.

pubes? now thats another story!

TheNewsMongersGeansaiNollag · 03/12/2008 22:48

Watzy, I never leave without feeling insulted!! Your hair is so heat damaged/in need of conditioner, so long since last cut! WHO cut it last??!

I found my first one on my mum's birthday earlier this year. I'm 24. I pulled it out, of course.

PortAndLemon · 03/12/2008 22:52

My hairdresser found one when I was 33, but it appears to have been an advance scouting party as there haven't been any more since then.

My mother went grey quite early but my father went grey quite late -- I seem to be taking after him .

sunnylabsmum · 04/12/2008 07:15

I have more grey hairs than my Mum- She's in her mid 60's and hardly has any, whereas I've had to colour my hair since I was 35. Mind you her father had jet black hair with no grey hairs when he died age 72 so it could be hereditary, but sadly seems to have missed me out!

ilovejonty · 04/12/2008 07:37

I was 25. I am now 80% grey and have to dye (37)

BONKERZ · 04/12/2008 08:10

im 30 and have had grey hairs since i was about 23, also thick grey hairs in my eyebrows.....well actually they are more pure white than grey!

Ybeags7071 · 07/03/2017 19:18

I'm 47 and I've only found 1-2 grey hairs...
My mom and dad were in there 50s when I last seen them and neither had grey hair that I remember,so genes really matter

Bantanddec · 07/03/2017 19:21

I was 21, I'm 30 now and I'm as grey as mother who's 55 Sad

OhtoblazeswithElvira · 07/03/2017 19:23

In my extended family the records are:
Earliest: 28
Latest: 85 Shock
Curiously both were the only ones in the family with black hair.

caterpuller · 07/03/2017 19:24

I had a few in my mid 20s, a grey stripe in my 30s and now I'm 47 I am about 50 % grey so I have low lights / camouflage colour done (half head) every 2 - 3 months to minimise them but not totally hide. Much more natural for me than dying everything, lasts longer too as regrowth not so obvious. Have also just noticed grey pubes!!!! Much more upset about that than the hair on my head to be honest.

Hellmouth · 07/03/2017 19:26

I'm 32 and I don't have any. My mum had grey hairs from when she was about my age, though. My nan barely had any right up until she died at 79!

NuzzleandScratch · 07/03/2017 19:26

feelingdizzy · 07/03/2017 19:28

NotTodaySatan · 07/03/2017 19:31

I was 20 when I found my first. Plucked it and the ones that followed until I almost gave myself a bald spot.

Am now 36 and totally grey and absolutely love it Smile.
