Hairdryer advice please!

I am fed up with my hairdryer...it seems very weedy and takes absolutely ages to dry my hair. I need something powerful and fast...can anyone recommend a hairdryer please? I will then ask for it for Christmas! I'm interested too in the ionising ones...do they do anything exceptionally different?
PS my current one is a VidalSassoon vs536, 2000W.
Thanks!

I think mine is the most expensive Babyliss one, but I'm at work so cannot check.

It dries my hair in about 10 mins and I have VERY thick hair in a short bob.

I seem to think I paid about £40 at argos, but looking at their website now, it doesn't appear to be there.

I have one called a Vortex. Bought it quite few years ago but it still dries my hair in super quick time. Will see if I can find more info...

this looks like it is the newer version of it.

I have just bought an ionising one for my MIL for Christmas.

That's not helpful is it....?!

StickLadyLove · 03/12/2008 21:21

Like the look of the vortex...but does 1825 mean the wattage? Mine is 2000w so would the Vortex be weaker?? I'm confused!

Did your MIL say why she wanted it, flowerybeanbag? Does she know something about it?? (Eager emoticom!)

Nope. She just wants a new hairdryer so I took a punt on the ionising stuff as it sounded good. [unhelpful emoticon]

I've got her this one.

I have a phillips treseme one that cost about 25 quid and is the bloody bees knees .

harpomarx · 03/12/2008 21:29

my hairdresser told me to get one from a specialist hair and beauty suppliers - he said they are much better for blowdrying. I haven't looked into it yet so don't know names or prices I'm afraid. Do you have a Sally's near you?

StickLadyLove · 03/12/2008 21:35

I don't think so harpomarx...haven't heard the name. That's a great idea, tho, I could talk to my hairdresser about what she'd recommend.

That Remington ionising one is an amazing price beanbag...but just read one review where the lady said it exploded in her hand!!! I guess any hairdryer could do that, though??!

My hair looks fine but there is masses of it. When I have it blowdried at hairdresser they always comment 'you've got a lot of hair, haven't you?' as it takes so long to dry! I need a rocket-powered one I think.

I am in exactly the same situation as you OP.

Friends have commented when they use my hairdryer that its takes a long time to dry. And when I worked it out, I've had it for over 5 years! Longer than many men! Hee hee!

I have thick hair almost down to my bum and the hairdresser usually has two people dry it, so I definately need a super industrial one too!

Will keep an eye on this thread! ;0)

flowerytaleofNewYork · 04/12/2008 09:25

I went for the Remington partly because I have a Remington, although it's a few years old now, and I've been very happy with it, plenty of oomph, can't stand wimpy hairdryers!

StickLadyLove · 04/12/2008 10:03

What amazing hair duke!!
Someone must have a miracle hairdryer...someone...
