if so what sort.

i am 31 and don't use anything, only have very faint nose to mouth lines.
so should i be using something?

mainly don't wear make up, so just wash my face with plain water.
if i wear make up, i use olay face wash to get it off.

My best friend is an aromatherapist an makes my moisturiser, 'tis beautiful, has given me much younger looking skin and is not very expensive.

Protect and Perfect contains retinol, which does reduce wrinkles but can cause a bad reaction in sensitive skin. I know this because every so often I weep at my fine lines (why can't I love the visible sighns of the gaining of wisdom?) and sneak a bit on ... with the usual, sad results.
Moisturisers, generally, are just a barrier to keep the elements from your skin (wind, sun) so in theory anything that doesn't cause a reaction will do.
If you have sensitive skin, avoid anything with perfume or retinol and even some of the ones with SPFs (SPFs have a little sun-block -really useful, but again, not for me - boo).
Fwiw, I use Dr. Hauschka Rose Day Moisturiser and sometimes the Ren rose moisturser.

Ok. What is the best heavy duty one? I have a wrinkle in my forehead tha looks like I have been hit in the face with an axe. I think I may need a cement fill.

It has been a very very stressful 2 years!

zenandtheartofbaking · 02/12/2008 10:24

Oh - and I think you have to steer clear of retinol and vitamin A-containing products if you are pregnant. Along with prescription stuff for acne (not that that's your problem) if you are pregnant.
But maybe somebody else should clarify that. I just remember my ds being pregnant and getting warnings from her doctor.

Georgie - the one that everyone loves is the Boots one mentioned above. It was outed on some TV programme as one that really does work (because of the retinol).
This will infuriate you but someone once gave me the name of the one Madonna uses (American, on-line) but I just forgot it because my skin won't cope with anything chemically (ie anything that actually lessens wrinkles). Sob.
Hey - Can't we all just learn to love our wrinkles?
[Silence]
Thought not.

georgiemum · 02/12/2008 10:34

No. Seriously considering a sticking plaster.

zenandtheartofbaking · 02/12/2008 10:42

Have you tried those weird sticking plaster things called "frownies"?
I haven't but your post made me wonder. Has anyone?
They're plaster you wear at night and they are supposed to lessen frown lines ... .

I use moisturiser. don't believe in anti-aging - have v sensitive skin so stay away from retinol blah blah.

I use Dr Hauschka Quince day cream and sometimes if v dry Neals Yard Organic Orange Flower Facial Oil. V good.

The Neals Yard Frankinsence one scored very highly for anti-aging in DM or beauty bible thing...

ALovelySongbirdInaPearTree · 02/12/2008 13:10

so what does retinol do to sensitive skin? make it go red and itchy ?
