Anyone had it at the dentists and how much? I can find one local dentist charging £350 which seemed a Lot- I was expecting more like £200.

anyone?

yes mine was £350. Was sort of worthwhile as my teeth were quite yellow but I wanted them to be whiter than they ended up even though they were three shades lighter. Only one person ever noticed! I had to mouthguard fitted and had to sleep with it and load of peroxide gel for three weeks. Advantage now though is I can buy more gel and top up whiteness for about £40 a time rather than having whole treatment again. Made my already sensitive teeth even more so - stock up on sensodyne!

I did mine this summer for £250. Got a moulded silicone mouthguard thingy which I filled with gel. It worked brilliantly - my front teeth are quite white but my canines were really yellow; now my teeth are all the same colour, and much whiter.

It does make them incredibly sensitive but that eased off when I stopped using the gel every night - now I just top them up every 6 weeks or so.

thanks- the dentist website quotes £350 for having done there, and £350 for home- but says a combo of both works best./?? assume this means that the surgery whitening doesn't last and you need to keep doing at home.

In the surgery they use pulsed light plus gel and it takes an hour.

Spoke to my dentist about it today. They do the whitening tray thingies for £250. She doesn't recommend the laser treatment as it actually heats up the nerves in the teeth and can make them v. sensitive.

Beware! My teeth are the colour of a pirate's and I had the laser thing done at vast expense and it made NO DIFFERENCE AT ALL .

Then I did the whitening trays at a moderately vast expense and got a miniscule improvement - but basically just a lighter shade of pirate .

The only thing that has worked for me is veneers at eyewatering expense - in fact I could only afford to get the top four done BUT it has made a huge difference and I can go without worrying now.

Saving to get some more done and hope to have a full set by 2039.

i had mine done at the dentist-cost £200 a couple of years ago-best money ever spent. I hated my yellow teeth but now smile with pride!

rockcake · 02/12/2008 17:48

I had mine done over a two week period via my very reliable dentist and it hardly made any difference although it cost me 200 quid My son had the same treatment, same dentist and got a good result so I suppose it's one of those things that varies from person to person. Very annoying all the same

I'm trying good old Pearl Drops and another toothpaste- can't remember off hand but i cost £7.99- and will see if that helps.

My sister uses Crest Whitestrips and has the whitest teeth of anyone I know! I don't think they're available in shops, I know you can get them online on an official Crest site, but I think she gets them on ebay. I have no idea what's in them, or whether they're any good for your teeth, (would be interested to hear if anyone does know) but they definitely do the job and are a lot cheaper than getting whitening at the dentist.
