Is there such a thing as cord maternity dungarees?

Yes yes I know [crazed 70's emoticon]

It's just after last time I am not at all keen on either under-bump things which always feel like they're going to fall down and over bump things which I'm forever hitching up as well...

Got me to thinking that really dungarees are the most comfy option - I just really don't want denim ones.

Can anyone help me find my partridge family vibe?

I practically lived in cord dungarees during both my pregnancies (Late 80's) - I got a really good pair from Bloomng Marvellous - don't knw if they are still around?

KnickKnack · 30/11/2008 18:02

I had the black cotton pair at the top here
They are quite heavy material, but very soft cosy material. I lived in them for most of 2 pregnancies. They are super flattering as well
Someone bought them in America for me...not sure if they deliver to UK.

TheProvincialLady · 30/11/2008 18:04

I'm sorry but you can't post that here. This is a STYLE and BEAUTY board - no cord dungarees allowed here

KnickKnack · 30/11/2008 18:05

motherhood maternity is the brand name

KnickKnack · 30/11/2008 18:07

oops ignore all that...they dont seem to make them anymore.
They really did look fab though.

WaynettaSlob · 30/11/2008 18:08

have to agree with Provencial Lady - no no no to MATERNITY DUNGAREES.
Get thee to Isabella Oliver 0 they have gorg over the bump things that you don't haveto yank up,

RustyBear · 30/11/2008 18:08

Just says 'style' ProvincialLady, not 'good style'

Benjy · 30/11/2008 18:15

There are plenty of comfortable on the bump or over bump from Mothercare, Next etc. that are reasonably priced and stay in place. I never had to hoist up the trousers I bought from either shop. Am with Slob and ProvincialLady on maternity dungarees. If nothing else, they are a major faff each time you need to go to the toilet, which will be a lot! Pregnant women are beautiful. You need something that will show off your bump and make you feel fabulous. Was in Blooming Marvellous this week and they had some gorgeous maternity clothes in there.

WotsThatSkippy · 30/11/2008 19:26

Chriust, I hope not. Not unless you are looking to rock the circa-1974-Australian-lesbian look.

SoupDragon · 30/11/2008 19:27

You have pregnancy brain.

ChukkyPig · 30/11/2008 19:54

Last time I had some over bump jeans from blooming marvellous and some under bump cargos from dorothy p. They were both very much south heading all the time...

I think the problem is I am an apple at the best of times so my arse, although not exactly svelte, isn't enough to keep the damn things up.

Fail to see why people think that wearing 70's style clobber is not stylish . Would just love something really comfy, preferably in purple (oh god am turning into my mad aunt). If you can't wear utterly ludicrous clothes when pg when can you I say!

But it looks like I am out of luck.

Thanks all for your lovely support and total understanding of why a person would be drawn to such an item of clothing...

Maybe i could make some myself (contemplates becomming full blown home grown organic dungaree wearing fruitcake)...

glasgowstyle · 30/11/2008 19:55

Noooooooo - not unless you'd wear them if not preg!

ChukkyPig · 30/11/2008 19:56

Well I used to wear cord flares at uni and cut quite a dash even if I say so myself!

Of course i was young and thin then...

shhhh · 30/11/2008 20:49

maternity dungaree's .....

My auntie passed a pair onto me when I was expecting dd, dispite the fact she was 2 sizes smaller than me I looked and felt like farmer giles .

No No No No No No..think of your lo .

shhhh · 30/11/2008 20:51

btw cp, "well I used to wear cord flares at uni"

Exactly that "used" .

BroccoliSpears · 30/11/2008 20:54

You need an overbump pair of trousers with belt loops under your bump. Borrow dp's belt and your trousers will stay up.

ChukkyPig · 30/11/2008 20:54

I did qualify that with "i was young and thin then". No need to be mean.

What is so wrong with wanting something comfy when pg - last time was a nightmare.

Thanks all...

in the 70s everyone wore those pastel striped dungarees from laura ashley didn't they

shhhh · 30/11/2008 21:14

cp,don't take offence..none meant.

My point was that you used to wear them, doesn't mean do it now...
When I was young and thin I used to go out in coldest december dressed in a babydoll type dress...I wouldn't do that now Gosh, I would be locked up!

ChukkyPig · 30/11/2008 21:24

Sorry shhhh I have been in a foul mood and very touchy for ages...

Had forgotten how miserable the first trimester is. DH has just fed me in the hope that might lift my spirits...

Put your feet up and have some chocolate.

Im a fellow pregnancy sufferer (not atm though...!) so I know what your mean.

tassisssss · 30/11/2008 21:33

I found dresses fabulously comfy for my summer pregnancies, but am thinking wearing tights would defeat the purpose.

I wore hand-on dungarees first preg and loved them but they were denim (mothercare). I didn't care what I looked like, they were comfy and I liked them!

ChukkyPig · 30/11/2008 21:43

Maybe I will have to bite the bullet and get some denim ones! They do look comfy...

Think I'm going to go to bed and watch I'm a Sleb... And cheer myself up by thinking at least I'm not married to David Van Day

Or bearing his child [puke]

Apologies if you are very high brow and don't know what I'm on about!

See, I'm not ashamed - this is me in 1987, pg with DS

weepootle · 30/11/2008 21:49

I hope not!
